Overall a decent professor. The class has about 10 homework assignments, 2 midterms, and a final. All the assignments are similar in difficulty, and the exams match the homework pretty well. There are lectures twice a week which aren't technically mandatory, but he sometimes takes attendance and will give extra points to people who show up more often. Pros: - All assignments (including midterms and the final) are done at home and are open book, open note, open everything. - All lectures are recorded and posted to ELMS - Homeworks tend to match exams pretty well - He grades fast, and usually has homeworks and exams returned within 1 - 2 days. Cons: - The content is interesting but professor Massoud is just kind of a boring lecturer. You can tell he loves what he does, but he the lectures can seem scattered and hard to follow. - There are no office hours. He always stays after class to answer questions and will answer emails, but there is no designated office hours which would have been very nice. - Generally a fair grader, but sometimes doesn't leave the best feedback, or gives less partial credit than I would have liked. All in all a decent class that's pretty straightforward considering the exams are open book. Professor Massoud is decent but not the greatest. If you are interested in the class don't be deterred by him, but don't be too excited either.

Super nice professor, almost always grades homework within a day of submitting and gives relevant feedback. Lectures are occassionally scattered and it's difficult to pick out what the important details are. Most of the time, though, important equations are boxed and highlighted. There is a toolkit with fluid properties/functions that is super helpful for this class, so try to get your hands on that.

The professor is nice and responds to emails pretty fast even at odd hours. There's 1 HW assignment each week (20%), 2 midterm exams (each 20%), and 1 final exam (40%). The grading is very forgiving: there's a lot of partial credit even if you get the question wrong, as long as you put down some equations you're basically guaranteed some points. All three exams are entirely open-note and at home with a similar format to the homework. Attendance is not mandatory but highly encouraged as the lectures are pretty helpful and the professor usually gives the answer to one of the homework questions in class. Overall great course even if you're not super interested in nuclear engineering (I took it as an out-of-major elective for aerospace engineering).

An excellent professor. The class is great if you have some interest into nuclear engineering, but not might be as much of your drift if you're not as engaged with it. As long as you remain engaged, you should be able to do well. For most of the nuclear engineering classes, I would recommend you have already taken thermodynamics, fluids, and heat transfer, as while he does cover the material within class, it's much harder to keep up without it. Would recommend going to class if possible, as sometimes he will mention important information within class that will be useful for the homework (very manageable) or exams (open note, do not need to physically present). He usually posts slides and/or the recording of the lectures. No curve, but he is generous with awarding points for the exams and the homeworks. Definitely increased my interest in nuclear, so a definite recommend.

Personally don't like the content so class was hard to get into, but he is a very nice professor. He is generous with removing points on exams. Homeworks are pretty straight forward. The most annoying thing was he removes slides before he posts for "copyright purposes". He posts recording for the class though so you can still see the content. Exams are just like the homework, but not identical. Make sure you know some things prior to the test. It is all online so you have access to textbook problems and homework solutions. I recommend if you like seeing the world on a tiny scale.

Very old school. Nice guy. Okay at teaching. Generous grader. Online exams that are 100% open (internet and notes are allowed). 4 stars because he gets really mad if you pull your phone out even for a few seconds, also gets really triggered if you whisper to a friend. If you're just looking for a low effort tech elective, id suggest something else. If you're into nuclear engineering you'll probably like the class more than I did, it's just not really my thing.

Fantastic professor. Cares about his students and is very patient, especially when they show initiative (i.e. coming to class and asking questions). Exams are open everything and online.

Awesome professor who really prioritized learning and performance in the class. He is unmatched in replying to emails and the same goes with his grading. He puts an enormous amount of effort in the course in presenting information, where each of his lectures probably took hours to prepare for with all information he presented. Truly an excellent teacher and couldn't recommend more, he is understanding, approachable, incredibly knowledgeable, and wants everyone to do their best.

Nice professor who is very passionate and knowledgeable about the nuclear engineering field. Makes an effort to answer questions promptly, once even answering an email I sent to him at 2am. Homework is marked very quickly. I tend to submit my homework on friday/saturday and would get a grade within 24hours.

Mahmood is a very nice man, but not an effective teacher. Part of this is likely due to online learning since he isn't very tech savy, but he would rarely stay focused on the content of the class during lectures. If there is an option to take a class Professor Massoud is teaching with another professor I would recommend doing so
