I thoroughly enjoyed this class, I learned so much about teach-back methods, plain language, and other methods of making information easier to understand. I think every health student should take this class, especially students who are aiming for a clinical career. In terms of class structure, we had to meet two times a week, and there is in class participation points, so, you cannot really miss any class. There were multiple smaller group projects as well, and a large group paper that was broken into multiple parts throughout the semester, and a final presentation. All of the assignments were definitely doable and was graded fairly. I recommend this class and Dr. Maybury to anyone looking for a public health option or elective class that is easy, but you will learn a lot, and it has no exams!

Dr. Maybury is the sweetest. She is so passionate about what she teaches and she truly cares about her students. I loved this class and found it to be very valuable to my future career. There are no exams, but there is a semester long group project. However, she breaks the paper up throughout the semester, and there is a final presentation. There are in class activities almost every class, so you do have to go, but she is understanding if you can't make it. Overall, I would highly highly recommend this class if you want a fun, valuable class and an easy A.

Professor Maybury is literally a GODSEND. She is passionate about what she talks about and is very sweet. You do not need to pay attention in lectures, but it is interesting to me, at least. Also, she is very generous in grading; there is no final exam or weekly quizzes. There is a final project and paper assignment, but she gives adequate time in and out of class to work on it. She also sets it up as like assignments for each part of the paper so far, which is helpful. Every week, there is a key takeaway assignment which is a replacement for a weekly quiz which is 3-4 sentences on the materials and your thoughts on it. She posts all her lecture slides before class, so you will be fine. We do some in-class activities, so attendance is a must. Other than that, if you are looking for PHSC electives or, like other electives, idk how other classes work, you should definitely take her.
