Nice guy who tries his best to cover a TON of material. The class project is kind of useless IMO. Best way to get an A in the class is pay attention in lecture, but don't try to take notes, just sit there and pay attention. Then later go back to the lecture slides and do your own notes. Then do the homeworks with minimal assistance. Exams were very similar to homework questions.

Dr. McCluskey is a very nice guy, but his class is extremely disorganized. Lectures are super boring -- he just reads from the slides, but too quickly for you to take good notes. There is a ridiculous amount of content in this class. I found it really hard to study for the midterm and final because I couldn't distinguish which content he would actually test us on out of the hundreds of slides he went through. The homeworks were too long and were graded harshly. If you have a choice to take 382 with a different professor, I would not choose McCluskey, but if you do have to take it with him, it is definitely survivable.

This guy is probably the best ENMA300/ENME382 professor UMD has. His slideshows and lectures are good, he always brings in stuff so you can see that the materials actually act the way that he's talking about. I'm not going to lie, I never really payed much attention (you have to go to class- there are pop quizzes) and I studied from the book and slideshows and was able to do well on tests and quizzes, even though I probably payed about 5 min attention in total throughout the semester. So take this guy, you won't regret it.... oh yeah he was also out often so sometimes he has lectures as videos online... so sometimes there's no class. Yay!
