In terms of logistics, he is great. The class is straightforward and easy (as long as you properly engage with the material). There's always readings accompanied by quizzes and discussions, with just three projects throughout the semester. His lectures are clear, and he really gets the topics across. His discussions spark conversation between students, and end up giving some valuable insights at the end of the day. I'd take him for most of my classes if I could, but unfortunately I took this course as a gen-ed. |

He was one of the best professors I've ever had. He is so engaging and really cares that his students understand the content. He always did a great job explaining concepts and was so approachable. He ran my discussion session as well which was great and so helpful. |

Mike was my favorite professor I've ever had at UMD. He's charismatic and down to earth. Lectures were super interesting and engaging. The class consists of a reading before each lecture, lectures twice a week with a very short quiz on the reading, participation, three writing assignments throughout the semester, a midterm, and a final. The course is super organized. I would definitely recommend going in for office hours if you need any help with a concept or with the writing assignments. I couldn't recommend his class more! |

CMSC250 Expecting a B Anonymous 05/15/2023 |
Hey, are you a CS major? Are you looking for a FREE class? Look no further! I shit you not, this is LITERALLY the first two weeks of CMSC250. Unit 1 is truth tables (week1 of 250), Unit 2 is proofs (but in a different style than taught in 250, just read the textbook for 10 minutes) and the final unit is universal quantifiers (but with less restrictions). If you did 250, you can skip 98% of lectures. I literally don't have an A on this class solely because I kept forgetting it existed. Do the hw, do the quizzes, the whole workload of the course can be done in like 3 hours. About McCourt, seemed very nice and very helpful in lecture. Well, I only went like 5 times. |

Mr. McCourt is probably the best professor I have ever had. He is incredibly engaged with the students and the class material, has great and varied explanations for every part of the course, and makes an effort to ensure that every student can understand the material and succeed in the course. I loved taking his class and talking with him about philosophy during office hours. |

By far the best teacher ever for my first year here. He is engaging and speaks with charisma. Going to office hours helped me a ton with my written assignments. He gives good feedback and cares about us. His quizzes are so easy. Recommend this teacher for your humanities credit. |

Michael was definitely one of my top 3 professors while at UMD. He lectures well, communicates effectively, and is extremely organized. As another review points out, he definitely knows his stuff (strict standard of knows). If you can take him for multiple classes, I recommend it! |

He knows his stuff well, answers questions well in class without making anyone feel self-conscious, and explains the material well. The material can be dry, a bit like a math class. Grading is fair (maybe even generous). Be warned: The final exam is about 3x tougher than any of the other exams, problem sets, or given practice problems. |

I found Mike McCourt to be one of the best professors I've had. He was clearly passionate about philosophy of language, and was definitely on top of the material. |
