Prof. Miller's course was completely asynchronous but the workload was reasonable and she isn't a harsh grader. She doesn't budge on deadlines and is not lenient with technical difficulties, responds to her email in a reasonable amount of time. She uses the textbook as a reading along with her weekly lectures. |

Never interacted with her on a personal level, because all of the lectures were recorded. The class is easy and she is very clear about what is on exams, and what is not. Everything is open note/book, and she doesn't go out of her way to make your life difficult. A general week will consist of 1-2 video lectures, and some readings if you choose to do those. A discussion group activity is done during the discussion meeting, and is graded by effort (subject to TA). Would take her again if needed, she seems like she loves CJ. PS, (a) She talks slowly in the lectures, so listen at x1.5 (b) The book wasn't needed in any capacity. I didn't open it once. |

This may be one of the most interesting classes I have taken so far at UMD as a gen ed. This class is easy as long as you take good notes and watch the documentaries assigned. Professor Miller is very nice and a very good communicator. If you are looking for an easy way to get two gen eds out of the way, I definitely recommend taking this class. There is only one exam and the final is a project. The class was 1-2 asynchronous lectures per week. Definitely recommend getting the book as it is very helpful for quizzes and the exam. |
