I absolutely LOVED this class and Susan was amazing. She is so kind and passionate, and I loved the student-led aspect of discussions. Classes typically consist of a few videos followed by a class discussion, with occasional studio days where you actually get to learn hands on. In terms of homework, it was usually pretty light (a couple of readings and/or videos, and weekly writing assignments that varied in length). The midterm project was a group project where we got to present on a dance genre of our choice, and the final project (individual) allowed us to choose between a presentation or paper on any dance-related topic of our choice. The choreographic project was also super fun, and it was great getting to see everyone's dances that they made. I would highly recommend this class, even if you're not super interested in dance, as it was super fun and always one of the highlights of my weeks!

Literally the sweetest person ever. Very kind and truly cares about what she's teaching. Personally I don't care much for dance and just took up this class to fill a gened, but this class was a very tranquil and fun way to fill up those credits.

She is the kindest woman! While this class was an easy gen ed, it was also super interesting! You don't need any prior knowledge of dance. There are no quizzes or exams, just weekly writing assignments (takes 30 mins or less to complete). She assigns readings/videos for each class, but you totally don't have to read them, some are interesting tho! We also always get out early. The midterm was a group presentation, and for the final, you could give a presentation or write a research paper. Overall, TAKE THIS CLASS WITH SUSAN!!!

I am OBSESSED with this woman. Susan is kind, personable and happy. It was a joy to come to her class everyday. She has amazing energy and you can feel her passion. Susan is super interested in every students opinion no matter their take. The grading is easy and fair. In general it’s lectures but every so often there’s a studio day to put our learning into practice which are the best. Additionally, there is a midterm choreography project that is really fun. She is the best professor you’ll have. Don’t miss out take her!

Susan is someone who is passionate about dance and makes it exciting to learn. She is understanding when it comes to work and focuses more on her students learning than completing busy work. She cares for her students and genuinely engages with them. The work consists of a reading or video before class and a writing assignment once a week. The class is very straightforward and you get to learn about and experience all different kinds of dance. 10/10 recommend.

Susan Miller is like the mother we've always wanted/needed. Each time I walked into class she'd greet me with a smile and genuine excitement. She cares for her students like they're her children and ensures that everyone has their needs met. She constantly asked how we were doing, if we needed help with anything, etc. Her heart is made of pure gold. Assignments consist of writing assignments (super straightforward), no quizzes, and no tests. The "mid-term" is a paper or choreographed dance, and the final is a paper or presentation. Love her so so much!!

Susan was a great professor! The class was extremely easy, and I had a lot of fun. Not only did we learn about the different styles, but we also got into the studio to learn how to perform these dances. There were journals almost once a week, but they were not hard, about one page each. The midterm was a group project, and the final was a project. The class is laid back. As long as you do the work and attend class, you will get the grades you want.
