I was excited to take this class because it promised to teach different valuable programs for data visualization, but I am severely disappointed. The class is ridiculously easy and her teaching consists of reading PowerPoint slides, reading code templates, and/or tutorial videos. The first half of the semester consisted solely of visualization "theory" with no practical assignments and the second half was solely following tutorials - no integration. We have only worked with an abstract network and no other type of data. We have used the seaborn package in Python, R, Tableau, and Illustrator all with the same context-lacking dataset. The material we have gone through in this class just isn't enough to justify a standalone class and the school does not deserve the tuition I spent on it. |

She sucks. You won't learn anything in her class. Her recordings are poor quality, you can't understand what she is saying. For a class on Data Visualization, we only learned how to use Gephi and Adobe. The syllabus listed Power BI, Tableau, and actual valuable programs in the workforce. Weekly quizzes that are hard, that is all the class consists of and a final project I learned nothing on. |

The ipython notebooks are nicely commented and she has made it easy to follow the lectures using the notebooks. The class is light in sense that i only have to see lecture videos, no reading extra work. Videos and hoemworks were not hard, but also not supereasy. Quizzes are just the videos. Easy but no extra challenge for learning (homeworks were good for that). I recommend following the lectures and repeating the python coding, to help with homeworks. I learned much useful things for a data science internship involving natural language processing and other ML techniques. I recommend taking this course with her for any serious learner of data science. |

Do not take this class with this professor. It is completely unorganized (she didn't release the syllabus until halfway through the first week and told us no assignments would be assigned until after add/drop... which I should have been suspicious of). She also never responds to emails and only hosts office hours by appointment only (but that might as well be no office hours since she doesn't reply to emails). Never sends out announcements or emails nor answers the questions posted in the Campuswire that she said would be the primary source for getting answered. She posts lectures/content whenever she wants; the class is poorly structured and she expects we'll just make time for it somehow as if this is the only class we have. Lectures are poor and barely help with the quizzes. She's hard to hear/understand and always have screaming children in the back of her videos. As a straight A student, this class with her is the absolute worse. |
