Prof. Morris is knowledgeable, lenient, available, friendly, and difficult. YES, his class is boring at times. YES, it is obnoxious that you can't use any tech in class. YES, he grades harshly. That being said, if you are a competent writer, and CAN FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON ASSIGNMENTS, there is no reason to not get a B+ in this class. The TA is extremely approachable and helpful, and Prof. Morris is clearly not out to give bad grades. Take this class, put forth a reasonable amount of effort, go to discussions and SOME classes, and you will be golden. |

Do NOT take this class. It is so boring and like the other reviewer said, it is not an easy A for an elective. The professor is nice and somewhat lenient. He knows what he's talking about and tries his best to explain things, but it's still really hard to understand when the subject is boring and his voice is monotone. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed, but it is so hard to succeed when there are like 4 assignments total. His assignments are short but really dense, and he is extremely particular on the little details. They are all writing assignments, so if you aren't a good writer, do not take this class. |

I'm currently in Professor Morris's class, and I would love to give him a 5 out of 5 for his sheer expectation of discipline from his students. However, the fact that he is so paranoid about the use of laptops leads me to the following rant: Some students (myself included) feel more comfortable having all their notes available digitally in one compact piece of technology. I doubt that a significant number of students would dare get distracted by the internet in Professor Morris's class, as it is very hard to understand (and hear) him already. And even if a few students choose to ignore his clear warning about getting distracted in his class, then why should the rest of us have to suffer on their behalf? It is not his duty to develop good study ethics in his students; his duty is simply to teach. It is my belief that Professor Morris is still stuck in the age of parchment and quill, and that he needs to move to the twenty-first century with the rest of us. If he reads this post, I hope he sincerely reconsiders his laptop policy. |

Holy moly, do NOT take this class if you're looking for an easy A. He is one of the most challenging professor in Philosophy. He is extremely, extremely nice, but he also is boring and reads off of his slides. Grading depends on the TA. Was a lot more work than I thought it would be. I was actually interested in the subject, and decided that I didn't care how hard the professor was because if I worked hard enough, my grade would reflect it. It definitely did, but I had to work a lot harder than I expected for a lower level class |

Dr. Morris is very knowledgeable on the subjects, but you need to go to class. His slides aren't posted on BB and the readings are very dense (hard to get the meaning out of). However, he teaches material very well. He makes a point to learn people's faces and names, and if you go talk to him, he's very nice. He will help you out if you get to know him. The only thing I wish was that he had lectured less, and discussed more, but it's something that I can't expect when a prof is teaching a 75 person class. |

Although the class can be dreadfully boring at times, Professor Morris knows what he's talking about and teaches well. He tries awfully hard to be funny, but considering that the class is about death and dying, most of his jokes don't shine through. Only two exams, one paper as grades. Disclaimer: exams are ALL written. If you don't enjoy writing/suck at it, don't take the class. If you do, enjoy Morris' antics :) |
