About three quarters of the way through this class, my friends and I started referring to Peter as "my riddles three professor" as to figure out exactly what he wanted from any given assignment, it felt like I was being asked to decipher a riddle to fully answer the question. However, he is an incredibly nice and well-meaning guy and clearly wants to learn how to be a better professor because he wants to teach students. He is also incredibly knowledgeable in the field and everything that we covered feels applicable to the field that I want to work in. |

Professor Owen is a great professor because he pushes you to think outside the box, provides extensive feedback on your work and is overall very open to feedback on the course. At times, the course can become rigorous, and Professor Owen holds each of his students to an extremely high standard, but I believe that is what makes this class so great. It is not easy having such a long class; however, time seems to fly by. If you are passionate about learning about politics, specifically the inner workings of campaigns, this is the class for you. |

The worst professor I have had at UMD. The Fellows Program is great; however, this professor had me questioning whether to drop the program entirely. This was the first college course he has taught and it showed. He has ridiculous standards for assignment guidelines, makes you feel inadequate when you participate in class, and does not respond well when you ask for help or clarification. I learned nothing but my confidence in my abilities was greatly affected. This is the lowest grade I've ever gotten in a college course, despite my putting more effort into this class than any other this semester. I am genuinely warning other students in the Fellows program - take any other Fall seminar course. |
