One of the sweetest most charismatic professors at UMD, but the syllabus wasn't followed and the structure of the class was confusing. Most of the work we did wasn't graded until our final portfolio at the end so no one knew what their grade would end up being. Attendance and participation factor heavily into the final grade, so plan to show up if you're taking this class.

Other reviews pretty much sum it up. Super friendly and personable person, but assignment instructions were vague and the syllabus was not followed at all. Furthermore nothing in my class ever got graded… my grade has been listed as “N/A” for the whole semester and I honestly have no clue what grade I’m going to receive at the end.

Nice, personable professor who had some of the more and engaging classes - but the assignments were super vaguely defined, and she didn't follow the syllabus she created at all (which was cryptic to begin with).

Professor Parham is one of the most personable and interesting professors I've ever had, and while her classes were generally engaging and had some pretty cool topics - she didn't follow her syllabus at all (and it was already hard to follow and chaotic at that), and unloaded 90% of her assignments onto students during finals week, which is the main reason I can't give her five stars.

Do yourself a favor and take this class, it was absolutely phenomenal, and Ms. Parham is the best professor here. She encourages learning and thought and isn't afraid to let herself and her students be personal with their lives. She's very understanding and knows that we're all human and can make mistakes, such as pushing off deadlines, and the assignments were easy with blog posts and a final project about a topic in class that we could write whatever we wanted about. Again, absolutely incredible!
