She tries her best but she needs to change something about her class. Reads directly off the slides which are sometimes confusing, so theres no reason to go to class, but then she does participation and forces you to say something in class, making it just some awkward attempt to say anything in class. Theres only like 4 assignmnets and participation is a large portion so if one is bad then youre screwed. dont take this class at least with hyeri if you can. |

Idk why shes allowed to teach. She grades harshly. She just reads off the slides. Its not clear if she herself is knowledgeable in what she's teaching. Her slides are so confusing. Shes a nice person, but not a great teacher. Her exams are hard. There are only four things in the gradebook, so if you do poorly in one of them, you're kind of doomed. I bombed the first exam because it was so hard. The final exam was fair, though. But she doesn't curve anything. |

She is not a good teacher. The grading is so harsh and she makes the class so difficult for no reason. She makes participation mandatory and requires you to come to class. There are so many topics to cover that you have to memorize tons of information to get a passing grade on the final and midterm. Lastly there are not that many assignments so if you do bad on one, your grade is pretty much stuck there unless you ace the other assignments. Do no take this professor if you value your grade or are looking for a decent gen ed. |

This teacher is a very harsh grader and makes the class harder than it needs to be. She is an alright person but I would not take her again because of how she grades assignments. You only have a few assignments so if you do bad on one its very hard to get your grade back up. She makes participation mandatory and requires everyone to come to class. The midterm was difficult and the only resource we had to study was kahoot and the lecture slides. She just reads off the lecture slides the whole time so there really is no point in showing up sometimes. You can just read the slides at home and study by yourself. This teacher requires you to memorize so many different things for a level 200 class, so its a bit ridiculous. Overall, if you are looking for an easy gen ed, I would not take this teacher. There are way better classes to fulfill the gen-ed requirements. |

I’m not exaggerating when I say this: she is THE WORST professor I’ve ever had. If I could give her 0 stars, I WOULD. I genuinely hated this class. I bombed my midterm, so I went to her office hours to go over the exam, but even when she was explaining it, I couldn’t understand a single thing she was saying. I don’t understand why UMD hires professors who are incapable of explaining material clearly and effectively. It’s nearly impossible to understand her lectures. There are even times when students have to help her find words she’s forgotten. What’s ironic is that for a professor who doesn’t explain things clearly or speak very articulately, her exams are extremely confusing and difficult to understand. She claims to be nice, but it genuinely feels like she doesn’t want anyone to pass this class. On top of that, she refuses to give a study guide. For the first midterm, she gave us a Kahoot to study from, and only one concept from it actually appeared on the exam. Now, for the final, she’s given us a Jeopardy review. Are we serious? Her classes are incredibly boring. She clearly reads straight off a script, but the slides are still confusing and consist of vague bullet points that don’t help at all. If you don’t have to take GVPT, don’t, especially not with her. She grades harshly for someone who barely teaches and struggles to clearly communicate the material. |

If you are looking for an easy gen ed, do not take this class. Even though there are not that many assignments she is a very harsh grader so it is very difficult to get an A on any assignment. There is one essay, one midterm, one group project, and one final in this course. The final and midterm are difficult and in order to get a good grade you need to study for hours and memorize all types of information. If you do bad on one assignment it is very hard to come back up. On the midterm, she said that the class average was an 80 something but in reality she excluded the 10 or so people that got below a 70 and averaged up the 20 some people who got above a 70. She literally said this in class and it makes no sense at all. How is this even an accurate way of taking a class average, she just ignored all grades below a C-. If she included everyone's grades I am sure the average is around 65-75. Also she makes participation mandatory. In the beginning of the semester we had participation responses that you could type up to get credit, but after people stopped showing up to her class she got mad and removed it so either you raise your hand in class or get a zero. It is hard to come up with new answers or ideas in a class of 35-40 people. And if your answer is slightly off topic or wrong she can be condescending towards you. Also class is so boring. She just reads off of power point slides the whole time, which she uploads 30min-1 hr before class, so I don't blame the people that didn't come to class. Next, her test format is not good in my opinion. She includes like 3 multiple choice questions and 4-5 short essay questions and like 1 or 2 long essay questions. Overall, I would strongly recommend against taking this teacher if you can avoid it. She makes the course way harder than it needs to be. |

The class is hard. You have to study for hours in order to get at least a b which is crazy for a gen ed. I don't recommend taking this at all. Also there are very few assignments so if you do bad on one your grade is finished. |

This is not an easy class, do not take it if you want an easy A. I took this because I thought it would be a simple gen-ed but I was wrong. The teacher makes participation mandatory and gets pressed when people don't come to her class. I don't blame them for not coming because all she does is read off of a power point the whole time and does nothing else. Anyone can read off a power point. There is one midterm and one final and they are mainly short answer questions. In order to get a B or an A on the tests you have to spend hours reviewing the power points and memorizing notes. The grading is very harsh even though she says she's not a harsh grader. For example on the short essay rubric it literally says you get a b for being good and meeting all the requirements. In order to get an A you have to go above and beyond what is required in meaningful way. WHY does anyone have to above and beyond what is required. If you meet all the requirements and answer the question fully shouldn't you just get a grade above at least a B. The rubric specifically says it needs to be well-written, error-free, professional in tone, logical, well-reasoned, evidence-based, creative and/or original with a high level of critical thinking. From how poorly she teaches the class it is hard for anyone to even be able to generate creative or original ideas that meet her sky high expectations. She had a participation response in the beginning where you answer two questions after every class to get your participation credit. But after people stopped showing up she took it away and made us suffer. It is literally impossible for everyone to participate in the class. There are too many people in the class and even if everyone said something they would just be repeating the same answer that other people said. Even if you do raise your hand to answer a question, sometimes, she won't even bother writing you name down to give you credit. There are very few assignments and if you do bad on one it is hard for you grade to recover. |

Such a nice person but not a good professor. Classes are really boring and attendance is mandatory (you have to participate in class in order to get credit by either answering a question or asking one but sometimes she doesn't count your answer/question). Also, theres not a lot of assignments so if you get a bad grade on your midterm you're lowkey cooked (and the tests are kinda hard too). She doesn't give you much preparation for the midterm or final, the only resource we had was a kahoot. She just reads off the slides and sometimes the slides don't make sense (the grammar). Again, such a sweet lady, she gave up pepero on pepero day but I wouldn't want her again as a teacher. |

She's a nice person however the lectures are not helpful and you are better off studying by yourself. Participation is necessary for her class and she will take points of if you dont. The way her tests are formatted isn't the worst but you will 100% need to study hard for them. |

Takes a while to respond to emails, tests are challenging but if you study enough you should be fine. Lectures are not super interesting and at times the slides can be a little confusing. |

Tests are hard and she just reads off PowerPoint slides the whole time. No point coming to class, just read the PowerPoint and memorize the notes for quizzes. |
