Barry Pearson ENGL462 Expecting an A Anonymous 05/09/2024	Really lovely guy with an interesting life! Class is just him telling stories/lecturing for the full hour fifteen, so it's not super engaging. I don't feel like I learned much! Your whole grade is based on two essays, which (generally) he grades pretty easily. Most people don't come to class towards the end. Good prof if you want a nice and easy class (or if you love long lectures lol), but if you're looking for much more I'd recommend taking from someone else!
Barry Pearson ENGL368B Expecting an A Anonymous 01/23/2024	He is a nice guy but I didn't really gain anything from the class. He doesn't post the class on ELMS and your grade is only determined by two papers. His teaching style is not intellectually stimulating which is why only a handful of 25 or so students showed up to class.

Barry Pearson ENGL368D Expecting an A Anonymous 11/20/2023	Professor Pearson is a decent lecturer. I read these reviews when I picked him last semester and I decided to take his class. I often skip the class and am able to come in on occasion. The class size dropped dramatically after his first couple of classes because of his lecture style. Here's some important notes - He has two papers, none have rubrics, you have to "come to class and listen" to understand what they are - He doesn't care if you're on your laptop, or listening, oftentimes we do homework in class - He does NOT use EMAIL or ELMS! Going to office hours or after class is the easiest way of speaking to him. - You can email or call, he will not answer. - ADS PEOPLE! I had to PRINT my letter for him, I also don't feel they're taken seriously. - With no rubric on papers, he grades weird. - He asks for comments at the first couple classes, be prepared. - He is very passionate and did cool things when he was younger, but is really old and should no longer be teaching :/
Barry Pearson ENGL368B Expecting an A Anonymous 11/09/2023	Dr. Pearson is a really sweet guy. He usually just talks or plays records the entire class, but he has so much knowledge and personal experience in blues that I found really interesting. Because he doesn't really take attendance or collect in-class assignments, people take advantage and skip. There are only two assignments, one midterm and one final paper. Another thing; he does not publish an ELMS page. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a chill class, but especially for those interested in music/history.
Barry Pearson ENGL462 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 06/21/2021	Take this class. Take every class he teaches. You'll hear so many good songs (I actually have a full Spotify playlist of just music from this class). Pearson is genuinely the nicest guy out there. Hearing him chuckle at his own jokes is enough to make you want to come to class every week. Seriously... take this class. Take every Pearson class you can.
Barry Pearson ENGL368B Expecting an A+ Anonymous 01/26/2021	Literally the nicest professor you'll have at UMD. He LOVES what he teaches, and he wants you to love it too. Professor Pearson doesn't focus on grades so much as your mastery of the content. I'd honestly rate him 6 stars if I could. Do yourself a favor and take every class he teaches.
