Extremely easy class. The lectures were boring because I had no interest in the topics, I just needed the class to fulfill a gen-ed. Attendance is basically mandatory because she does clicker questions every class. The tests were beyond easy because they were open notes. The homework was a weekly McGraw Hill textbook assignment. She was understanding, nice and knew what she was talking about; she tried to keep the students engaged. |

Highly recommend. Not a geology major but is very open to helping students. Syllabus is very generous. HW is long but will receive an 100 no matter what. |

She is such a good teacher! I am taking this for my major so I find it pretty interesting although as a gen ed it can be a little boring. She really knows what she is talking about and makes at least geol100 easy to pass. |

Dr. Penninston-Doland is a great professor and you can tell she really loves geology. However, her way of lecturing is extremely boring. She basically reads off of her lecture slides each class but makes it difficult to miss class since she uses Clicker for participation so you kind of have to go to get that credit. Overall, she’s extremely kind but needs to work on her lecturing. |

She’s a sweet woman for sure, lectures are boring but all exams are online (including the final) which is super nice. You have to go to class to get participation points which sucks but other than that it’s insanely easy to get above a B in this class. Compared to other science Gen-Eds I’ve taken, this class is the most appropriately paced and challenging for a Gen-Ed by far. I would recommend. |

NOt that hard, at least it shouldn't be. BUt the lectures are supremely boring...I found it interesting but it is hard. You HAVE to study for those tests and take advantage of the extra credit trip. On midterms and final I got in the 70s, but I went to every discussion where there are always graded assignments.... |

This was a good non-lab science class and proved interesting as well. Professor P-D is a clear, effective teacher and she is very approachable if you need help. Assignments included 3 tests over the course of term that were based entirely on her lectures, you didn't have to bother with the book except for one discussion assignment, and a final exam. She dropped one of the midterm tests. There were busy work assignments weekly for discussion and an environmental resume assignment, too, but it was easy to do well on. You do have to come to class, she does participation points, but if you show up and care at all, you should do well. She's easy to understand. |
