As a student on the I-O psyc path, I really enjoy this class. It seems like Dr. Phetmisy has considered student input and greatly improved both her class and assignment structures since last semester. Her lectures are well spaced out and the slides well formatted, and she pauses often to have conversations with the class to help us conceptualize topics and apply them to real life situations. For this course, she has 10 item quizzes scattered throughout the semester that are open note, as well as a few reflections that allow us to connect class material to our persona lives. She has in person, 40 item multiple choice, closed note exams that do cover a LOT of material - but if you study hard and listen in lecture you can surely get an A. She uses Powerpoint slides so you have to make sure you read the "presenter notes" for important comments she makes that are often on quizzes and exams. Highly recommend this course and Dr. Phetmisy if you're interested in I-O!!!

Dr. Phetmisy has been one of the most unreasonable professors to teach this course so far. First, she makes her students read ~13-15 page papers before her class to have the most awkward in-class discussion ever. No one provides her with a response, and she's somewhat bothered by it. Then, her exams are absurd. She told me that she intentionally finds ways to make her exams as conceptual as possible. The questions are bizarre and have pretty confusing answer choices, sometimes making it seem like all the answers are correct. It results in her students doing poorly, but she doesn't care. She does not provide enough clarity on what will be on the exams, and her TA's reviews are practically useless. The only thing is that her projects are not too complex. They help with your grade. However, the majority of our exams have had a C+ average in terms of scores. Please consider another professor.
