Great professor! The class was a lot of work and we had assignments before every class, which could get a little annoying. As long as you do the readings/watch the films you should do completely fine. We really went in depth with our discussions, so it is obvious if you don't do the assignments. Don't be afraid to speak up. The grading was pretty lenient on the hw though. We have both a final exam and a final paper with a brief presentation. I would definitely recommend going to office hours for the paper to brainstorm and get feedback even if you don't think you need help. She really helped me refine my ideas and focus on specifics so I could be proud of my paper. For the midterm and final studying, I would recommend brainstorming and making a list of the characters in each work and how they relate to the class themes. It is a little time intensive (took me a couple hours) and you can review with a group after. This helped me get As on both exams. The exams cover a lot in the amount of time given so they do feel rushed even if you have prepared. Even so, I would definitely recommend her class- she's probably the best teacher I've had at UMD and I learned a ton. She's also on the younger side of profs so she seems approachable. |

Angela is truly an amazing professor. SPAN303 is a lot of work and requires studying dense literature, but Angela makes it so much more manageable and doable. She teaches the content in a really organized way and fosters great discussions in class. She also grades everything quickly and goes out of her way to give soo much feedback on work. She is also super available for help outside of class and always encourages us to reach out and schedule meetings to improve our essays. She responds very quickly to emails and is willing to work with you if you have anything going on. Overall I'd highly recommend taking any Spanish class with her-- you'll learn a lot and have a good time because she is super nice and wants to make the class a good experience for her students! |

Best Spanish teacher I've ever had. She is so enthusiastic and engaging. I learned a lot, and SPAN303 was by far my favorite class of the semester. Would recommend 100%. |

Probably the best Spanish teacher I've ever had. I really feel like I learned so much due to how she structures her class and how supportive and encouraging she is. I would highly recommend taking any class she teaches. |

Profe Pico is the absolute best! She cares about the class and she cares about you learning. She’ll go to any length to make sure that the content is engaging enough. I would take any class of hers without even worrying about the grade. It’s about getting trained in Spanish 5 days a week and grasping the language, which Profe Pico is wonderful at. |
