The content learned in the lectures was straightforward; it came right from the textbook, so you didn't need to read it. The midterm was hard, and closed book on the computer, but the final was easier. Professor Qu was very nice, but his TAs graded all the work and gave little to no helpful feedback; they took forever to grade work, so it was hard to improve on the other assignments. Also, make friends in the class because most of the assignments are group work, and there are two presentations, one with a partner and another with a big group, as well as a group paper. A nice guy and an easy class overall; I just wasn't interested in the content as much. |

The course is structured as one midterm, one final cumulative exam, one duo presentation, one group presentation/paper, and an elms discussion post after each class. The points earned on the discussion posts are based off of your attendance, so make sure you come to class. This course is super easy, the lectures are super text-book heavy, but he makes sure to emphasize the things that are most important in his slides. Qu creates a very welcoming environment for his students, I've seen many people make new friends through his course. |

The content was easy to understand. However, the midterm was challenging. I don't have any issues with the professor for this class; they are mainly just issues with communication with the TA I was assigned to. I had emailed the TA for 4 weeks straight, trying to get a grade changed, with no reply. However, I emailed Professor Qu, and he responded and changed my grade almost immediately, so props to him for that! |

Lecture was literally the textbook which was nice because I barely read it. He goes extremely fast so make sure you can keep up with the speed. Exams mimicked the study guide he provides and were all multiple choice! The thing I disliked the most were the in class assignments which made me lose so many points but I never got any feedback from my TA. Be sure to make friends because the in-class work and semester long project is group work. The semester long project is a presentation and research paper right before the final, so it’s a lot. The class wasn't too bad just tedious. |

TA's graded my assignments, so I have more of a bone to pick with them than the actual professor. Lectures fly by pretty fast because there is a lot thrown at you in one day, barely any time to do the in class assignment. LOTS of groupwork, which can be a good opportunity but in my experience I was heavily taken advantage of and could not believe the incompetence of some of the other people in this class. There are a few extra credit opportunities but they really didn't do much for me. Exams are closed book and taken in the classroom but he provides a study guide that was super helpful (I usually got a low A or B on them). Lectures mostly just consist of textbook material, honestly I barely ever opened the textbook at all...most answers to things I could find in my lecture notes. |

Not the worst professor I've had, but also not the greatest. Super friendly, but lectures and assignments are very dense and he is kind of a picky grader about some things. Granted this is a research class so its dense to begin with, and the assignments and lectures are very organized, but I struggled with the information and projects the whole semester. You do work on a semester long research assignment with the same group that is randomly assigned. He is very accessible outside of class though! |
