Shameem is a very efficient lecturer and genuinely a kind and interesting person. The class itself was a very good general education credit, but don't expect great discussions unless you are willing to be an active initiator. The classes this semester generally consisted of a short lecture discussing the reading assigned for that day (three readings per week), a daily reflection, and then a small project or discussion with group members. Halfway through the semester, the daily reflections were dropped and the classes consisted more of larger discussions engaging more people. Other than in-class work, we were required to respond to five multi-paragraph blog-style prompts in ELMS discussions, two 4-page analytical essays, a digital collage and artist statement, and a creative final project. Attendance is taken and class participation is graded. That said, she is a relatively lax grader and as long as you put in reasonable effort you can easily get full points. Overall, the information discussed in lecture was interesting and it was helpful to have discussions with Shameem and the others in the class to further expound on the concepts. |
