Fantastic, understanding professor teaching a really interesting course. Funny and really great to talk to. Spends a lot of time answering student questions thoughtfully. Assignments were entirely based on in-class discussions — if you come to class after watching the films and doing the readings and participate in the group discussions, you will get an A. Midterm was very fair, mainly multiple choice with a short writing portion. For the final, we had a choice of either taking the exam or doubling the grade we received on our midterms. Ultimately learned a lot and looked forward to talking about the films. Hugely recommend the course and professor.

Great professor! I took this class as part of my upper-level requirement as a CS major and here are my thoughts: Lectures are more like discussions with an open forum for questions. He loves to get off-topic and just talk about the movies. Its fun. The class consists of mandatory movie group discussions and 2 exams which were fair and lowkey easy (my class did well enough that he made one optional and only a boost if you wanted it) He is very understanding if you need to miss a class and as long as you let him know he'll excuse you. Over all I recommend it.

great class for people into film to learn about the culture and the technicalities of it. very interesting lectures twice a week and one dicussion. we had to write 3 scene analysis papers which were pretty easy, and then 3 3 question quizzes plus a midterm. very low maintenance class that was actually engaging and i learned a lot. definitely recommend for an HU credit!

This class was extremely low maintenance, I did more work for my 1 credit course. There are only 4 grades in this class; 2 essays, a final essay and attendance. There is a lecture and a discussion every week that give you movies to watch and discuss in class, which I didn't do. All I did in this class was watch the movies for the 3 essays, wrote them and passed with an A. Most of the teaching and all the grading is done by the TAs.
