This class is quite easy if you do the work. He takes a long time to grade but is a nice guy, has a good sense of humor, and is very chill. He makes himself available outside of class as well. Overall if you are looking for an easy COMM class I would take this. There is one major essay which is out of 100 points and a mock debate that is out of 125 points. Other than that all of the assignments are out of 10-20 points which you can get full credit on as long as you put in the effort. |

Pros: - Class is pretty easy - You can turn in quizzes as late as you want - Lenient Grader: Should be a relatively easy A if you show up to class most of the time - The "lectures" aren't important at all so you can just do work for other classes while he talks Cons: - SLOW(EST) GRADER, it's the last day of the semester and he still hasn't graded any of the 4 presentations we did months earlier in the semester. - Doesn't respond to canvas messages / emails - Often passive aggressive and annoying |

He's a great professor! Super nice and the class was really chill/fun. We only have 3 in-person speeches and if you show up and try your best you'll get a good grade. My one complaint was that he took a longggg time to grade assignments. I would definitely reccomend taking COMM107 with him. |

Sean is a great teacher, especially for COMM107. He really creates a welcoming and safe environment which can be important as the class can be daunting to some. Grading wise, he is A VERY SLOW grader but very lenient (literally never actually graded any presentations just put a final grade into testudo even though he continuously said the grades would be inputted into canvas soon). I would highly recommend him as a professor as he understands that most don't want to take the class but are instead required to which makes him lenient to grading as long as you are actively participating in the class consistently. |

Professor Rhodes is the best professor I've taken at UMD. Rhodes is accommodating, thoughtful, and has a great sense of humor. I learned how to debate properly in his course. He is pretty relaxed at grading, as he wants you to learn as much as you can. I get nervous about presentations but with how small his class is, in conjunction to his welcoming personality, it never felt like I was actually giving a presentation. |

Rhodes is an amazing professor. He's not only funny, but the material and content he teaches is so interesting especially when we apply it to the final debate that we prepare. His class is easy and there's only two major assignments that are really important in his class. Whilst he took a bit of time grading our work I don't blame him for that because he's pursuing his own schooling at UMD. Professor Rhodes is the most understanding person ever and he'll always make time for you. TAKE HIS CLASS! |

If you can choose your Comm prof PLEASE TAKE RHODES! I think he is leaving soon since he's a grad student but he is absolutely the best prof for comm. He never grades bellow a B as long as you stand up and speak. There are 3 speeches (one group) that make up most of your grade. He took a while to grade my class due to some stuff with his own schooling but he's really great. Class is never mandatory but he will sometimes say something in class just to prove who hasn't been going. The quizes are all based on the textbook which you can find online for free. He's honestly such a vibe 10/10 recommend his class! |

He's honestly such a goat and really cares about us. Every class he checks in to make sure we're ok and he really understands burnout. |

Hands down the best professor I have had. There are three speeches throughout the course of the semester which are all pretty easy. I did not practice my speeches very much before giving them to the class and managed to pull an A on every one. He is a very lenient grader and understands public speaking is not for everyone. There are a few quizzes but they are worth a very small percent of your grade. They are online so the answers are in the textbook or google. Bonded with students allowing them to navigate the class rather than teach straight from the book. Show up to class to get details about upcoming speeches and get participation points. If you miss a day of class it's not a big deal as you can make up points unless you are presenting that day. |

Sean ya boy is a legend, Pretty chill class ngl. Allowed you to turn in assignments late, like all quizzes due last day of class. Other assignments with due dates usually can be turned in late. Grading on speeches were relaxed, pretty much everyone got As or Bs. Really got along with all the students, class was pretty much just free time so everything was just chill, we barely worked on assignments. Want the easiest and best comm 107 experience?
