Have you ever wanted to meet Helen Keller? If so, take this class and meet her for yourself. You will not be seen, heard, nor will she communicate with you. She does not answer questions well, and when she does it’s with sass and annoyance. Tough grader with no rubric or guidelines. Makes up her own rules in her head as we go on, no consistency. Super strict for no reason and the class doesn’t really have any takeaways. You’re out in random groups and you lose points for other members’ mistakes so you better pray you get a good team.

Professor Rhue was okay. She seemed like a nice person and genuinely wanted to help, but she didn’t always connect well with younger students. When people asked for advice in class, she gave good feedback, but her grading could be super picky. Sometimes it was hard to tell what she actually wanted, especially when it came to formatting or what the rubric was looking for. The class itself, HBUS105, was kind of boring. It focused a lot on AI and tech, which sounded interesting at first, but got repetitive fast. Most of the class didn’t really remember much of what was talked about by the end. To be fair, Rhue tried to make it more engaging and worked with the material she had, but it just didn’t land. The grades were based on three position papers (25%), three team papers (25%), three team presentations (25%), peer evaluations (8%), and a final exam (17%). The constant focus on AI for every assignment got old quickly. The TA graded the position papers, and Rhue graded the teamwork. The final exam was open-note and open-internet (except for ChatGPT), but it still felt unnecessarily tough and included random material that no one expected. Honestly, I think Rhue just needs to be clearer about what she wants for assignments and not get so caught up in tiny details. With clearer expectations and more variety in the topics, the class could be a lot better.

Horrible horrible teacher, took points off for random and insignificant things, didn’t provide feedback on grades, made grading super hard for no reason, canceled office hours when students tried to respectfully ask for feedback, rude in person unnecessarily, refused to answer questions, class was extremely uselesss and boring, most random final ever. Do not take her class.

constantly changed expectations, blatantly ignored students emails, lectures were a complete snoozefest, and learned absolutely nothing from this class. The final exam was ridiculous and I doubt anyone felt prepared for it. Really hope she reevaluates the way she carried this class for the future semesters she is allowed to teach it.

top 5 bottom feeder humans in all of existence. absolutely no sympathy in her heartless soul. she is built off of pride and ego because of her ph.d and teaching credentials, so everything a student says will go in one ear and out the other. around 2/3 of your grade will be determined off of team presentations and papers that 1: will have points decked off for things not even mentioned in the class or rubric 2: will get your points taken off in the presentation even if it was never mentioned once in the criticism left on the paper 3: will not help you on your next paper because her requirements and expectations change each time, basically letting you figure out new mistakes that you would never know exist. the amount of times that she has ignored classmates, argued and put other students down, and done nothing to prepare us for anything as the curriculum and the papers we write are completely unrelated. in addition, the final was cumulative of the useless information she taught and was ALL select that apply. some of the things on the exams were the most minute details mentioned in class that sometimes she even expected us not to know. and im sure if we ever complained, she would put us down and tell us to pay more attention in class like she always has. when complained about grades, she would say that we didn't go to her office hours and that it was our fault, but like in some other reviews, she would not take anybody seriously and also neglect their need for help. overall, fuck this teacher. I would rather castrate myself and dip myself in hot lava than to spend another 3 hours a week with this woman.

She doesn’t care about us. Class was made artificially hard and she gave us the first ever hbus final in HISTORY because she was lazy. She doesn’t care about us, doesn’t teach, and doesn’t put effort into. Joe Bailey, Jui, Liz, and Jillian actually care about Ibh. Lauren Rhue does not. Get.a new teacher

Professor Rhues's handling of this class shows she's unfit to teach it. The biggest issue with this course was Professor Rhue's expectations. Rhue changed her expectations for each assignment/presentation, which made it difficult to do well in this class. The feedback that Rhue did provide felt harsh and sometimes personal. Additionally, every lecture was the same and hardly interactive, which made it difficult to pay attention and learn. Also, Rhue gave no guidance for the final exam, which was extremely unfair considering that the class is based on team papers and presentations.

Might be the worst professor I've ever had. She is incredibly vague with her expectations and does a terrible job communicating between what she's looking for in a paper/presentation. She then takes off points for the most minuscule of details, which makes it feel impossible to get a perfect score. Her lack of communicated rubric or expectations are incredibly inconvenient as she then docks points, citing that you didn't follow the rubric when the rubric isn't stated in the first place, often times changing her feedback to make herself look better or as if she did her job as a grader/instructor correctly. Don't even think about asking or trying to reason through the missed points as she is disrespectful and very passive aggressive.

Would give zero stars if I could. Doesn't respond to people's emails, doesn't give guidelines for assignments, but then takes off points when the work is not what she wanted. Cancelled one of my team members' office hours because too many of us have already met with her. She will revise her feedback to cover herself after you ask why the point deduction is so extreme for such little feedback. Overall, very disrespectful to classmates and all we do in her class is "talk to your partner" every 5 minutes because sh cannot hold a discussion. Also, no grade shown not even for midterm grades.

I would give a 0 if I could, she doesn't give details on why you get points take off and is super passive agressive.

Kind professor and useful class if you want to learn how to visualize data with tableau and python. She doesn't teach you anything but rather shows you how to do it once. The Tableau project is significantly more difficult in my opinion due to the fact that Tableau was completely new to me and she would sometimes go fast during class when showing us how to create the charts. The only reason I am giving her 3 stars is because she is an extremely bad test writer. Here are some guidelines to writing an exam taken off of CMU's website on the page "Creating Exams": "Write objective test questions so that there is one and only one best answer. Word questions clearly and simply, avoiding double negatives, idiomatic language, and absolutes such as “never” or “always.” Test only a single idea in each item. Make sure wrong answers (distractors) are plausible" Now she would write exam questions that would be "Choose all that apply" and only one would apply or all would apply or in between. Now I would be okay if that was some of her test questions but about 90% of her final exam questions were "Choose all that apply". Now to FURTHER my point, the average on the exam was 167/250. That is a 66%. The highest grade someone got on the exam was a 79%. If the class did so badly on the exam then there is something wrong with how the exam was written. Also, this exam was open-note on a lockdown browser.

It is a very useful class. Professor Rhue is very knowledgeable and has a lot of work experience. She will teach you a lot about data visualization by using python and Tableau. However, the only problem with her course is her grading. She will not publish your overall grade, like how you can see normally in other classes and see where exactly you are in the class. She will let you know your grades for the assignment, but it is hard to see how you are doing exactly, especially if you are on the borderline. Did talk to her in the middle of the semester, but her response was unclear. Even after the final the % is not in canvas, you can only see your grade in Testudo. But overall teaching wise, she is good, but the structure did stressed me out.

Professor Rhue is helpful and knowledgable and her lectures are interesting. She doesn't respond to emails and gives little guidance on the quizzes that are due every two or three weeks. There are two big projects (Python and Tableau) that are not difficult if you attend class or watch the recordings to get the foundational code. But, and this is a very strong but, it was very stressful not knowing my grade during the semester. I can appreciate the thought of not wanting to stress students out, but when the syllabus doesn't align with the ELMS in terms of grading criteria and weights so that we couldn't even calculate our grades ourselves if we wanted to, it had the opposite effect. She said she wasn't concerned about anyone's grade, but that is not up to her to decide.

This class is really useful if you want to learn how to use python and tableau for data visualization. If you are not familiar with the programs or data visualization in general the concepts are challenging so it does require some practice outside of class. Professor Rhue is very knowledgeable, professional, and eager to help students. Overall I learned a lot in this class but it requires a lot of work (for a business class).

Really good teacher, super organized. Always tries to make the class engaging. The grading can be a little strict sometimes but it’s not a hard class by any means.
