Prof. Robin is very nice and personable, however, his grading is subjective. He didn't have any clear grading criteria and would grade assignments based on whether or not he personally thought you did a good job. The class was often very discussion heavy, and a decent chunk of the grade was from participation. None of the individual assignments received grades, so I had to wait anxiously until the end of the semester to see how I did. A lot of the class was a lecture in which we weren't allowed to use laptops, so it was difficult to remain focused for the entire hour and fifteen minutes. Not a bad guy, but also not a great class.

Awful class. Do not take if you're looking for an easy class.

Prof Robin is literally the nicest guy on earth. I have no music background and honestly am kind of terrible at music, but he actually helped me develop an appreciation for music stuff I never thought I could find interesting. My one issue is that, as others have said, this class has a weird amount of work for what it is. From the syllabus it seems like barely anything, but then you open the "projects" and find out they're full-blown essays. On the other hand, all the deadlines are flexible and there's a ton of extra credit, so it's very possible to do well as long as you eventually complete the assignments.

Dr. Robin is a really nice professor, but this class had a disproportionately large amount of work. Assignments were very writing-intensive, but they weren't graded harshly. Every deadline was very flexible, he would accept anything very late so long as you told him why you needed a longer extension. The material was not difficult, even if you don't have a musical background. Quizzes were open note, though that may have just been because it was online. If you basically just wrote what was in the modules, you'd be fine. Extra credit was plentiful if you needed it, too.

Dr. Robin is a great professor. There were a lot of writing assignments, but all of the deadlines were very flexible. There were also a lot of ways to get extra credit throughout the semester.

Such a bad class. I feel bad for anyone that has to take it. Seems light and easy, but this class is some dog shet

horrible. more work than every other class. maybe cuz its online, but getting a A in this class is like attempting to run a mile under 5 minutes, fighting a wasp nest, fighting a bear. everytime i check the new weeks assignment, i just want to break my monitior at how ridiculous the workload is. if this was in person, id blast juice wrld so no one could hear this crap. Id be doing my daily good

prof. robin is an amazing professor. he cares for his students and his class is chill. musc 130 is a wonderful, straightforward class with minimal work outside of class.

Dr. Robin is a solid prof. My only qualm would be that he kind of teaches exactly what's in the textbook, but he does make his lectures engaging and insightful. As someone who was taking this class for the music minor program and not as a GenEd, I do wish the material was more in depth, but that's on the syllabus, not Dr. Robin. Would highly recommend.
