I really liked Professor Ruangmas, but I think she's understanding to a fault. I had a crappy group member for our final project, and because of the style of the class, if you're stuck with someone who doesn't do any work, most of the semester is going to suck. The group member constantly called out of class to the point that I didn't even know what she looked like until two weeks before our final pitch, and the professor didn't even realize until I told her. Overall, her class is easy and as long as you put in effort it really isn't bad, but I think some work can be put into clarifying some of the rubrics, and I wish the group projects were graded individually because most of the points that were taken off was because of that one bad group member. However, I'd still recommend Professor Ruangmas because she's a very lovely professor and genuinely seems to care about her students and making the course fun, even if it comes across awkward sometimes. |

Ms. Ruangmas is honestly just a really nice person. FIRE is an easy class so don't worry about the coursework or anything like that. (It is a lot, but it's common sense, and her grading style makes it almost impossible to get anything lower than an A.) She truly does care about her students, and although I appreciated her as a professor during my first semester here at UMD. |

Super nice and understanding professor. I really enjoyed my time with her in FIRE and she made sure to guide us along every step of the way. Ultimately FIRE is what you make of it and she won't hold it against you if you don't have the most time to spend on the class, but also if you put in some effort you can learn a lot from her and the course. |

I can't speak for 2nd and 3rd semesters yet, but FIRE 1st semester is super easy. I can't say I learned too much in this class, though maybe I would have if I didn't have research experience already. It's a 3 credit class that feels like a 1 credit class. Overall it was a positive experience and I'm excited for FIRE moving forward. She insists that you call her by her first name (because Ruangmas is hard to pronounce I think), which is a bit weird but whatever. She also struggles to communicate sometimes, but it's always brief. You'll get a randomly assigned long term group, and while I got lucky, I know that's not guaranteed. That and the communication thing are really the only reasons she's not getting 5 stars from me, I'd give 4.5 if I could. |

Professor Ruangmas is super intelligent and knowledgeable on course material. Having a lab to work on coding is super helpful and I'm glad that they exist. CODING IS HARD! But, you will get through it. |
