Definitely recommended taking to knock out a gen ed requirement. The class is fully discussion-based; every 1-2 classes, you are expected to have read the reading (can be on the longer side, but you can skim), and you are expected to print it out. As far as grades, there are 4 response papers, but there's no rubric/prompt, so you can write about anything related to the past few weeks' reading, and the lowest one gets dropped. This is a little tricky because they are weighted very heavily, so if you even get a lower 80, it can really impact your grade. At the end of the semester, you have the option of writing a 6-page final paper or going to his office and having a 30-45 min discussion with him where you can talk about anything you want from the readings. I participated in the discussion, and it was super easy just come prepared with talking points, specific quotes from the text, etc. Since the class is on the smaller size, he does take attendance so it's important to come to class and participate! Overall easy A!

Take this class with Scribner! The class is discussion based and just requires you to print out and do the readings. It is annoying to print but honestly just load money onto your Wepa printing account and don't think about it again lol. Theres 4 papers where you can write about anything we've read about, so if you just lock in for a few classes each unit you should be fine. Prof Scribner really just wants to hear your ideas in class and in these papers, and is a pretty approachable guy. Before each paper I would share my ideas or rough draft with him before submitting so he could help me expand on my ideas or make it better, which was super helpful. Also, the final was a 45 minute conversation with him where you literally jut talk about anything we've talked about all semester- sounds kinda scary but he had cookies and was so chill about it.

Dr. scribner is an amazing professor. This class is basically 100% discussion based so you spend the class discussing about the reading in small groups and then coming together. There is 4 short 2-page analysis papers (1 is dropped) where you can reflect about any part of the readings for that unit. He does require readings to be physically printed out which is annoying and has a strict no device policy. He takes attendance every class which is a large percentage of the grade so definitely come to class. Scribner is super accommodating with extensions and stuff as long as you ask. For the final you can either have a 45 minute conversation with him or write a paper. Overall easy A.

Understanding teacher and his classes are very interesting if you read the readings because you get to get philosophical. Easy A class, 4 essays lowest one dropped, final is either a longer essay or just a conversation with him for 30mins. Great class

Professor Scribner is genuinely such an interesting guy. This class may seem like a lot of work, but it is super manageable. There are readings due before class everyday, but you spend pretty much the entire class discussing, asking questions, and analyzing them. Aside from that there is no final exam, just a conversation with him or a Philosophy of Education Paper. Then along the way there is 4 analysis papers that are pretty spread out and you can write them on whatever you choose from the readings! Great class, Highly recommend Professor Scribner!
