Connie Siebold INST311 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 04/20/2026	Who could've guessed that a course that is called "information organization" could be so interesting? She can somehow take a really boring topic (like exploring rich search results, or information architecture in a website) and make them actually engaging to listen and learn about. She cracks jokes in class, and they are actually funny as opposed to most professors' jokes. She gives very clear feedback on assignments and the group projects, also a very lenient grader. I'm not sure what the other guy is talking about, the assignments are "due" on friday, but she is super clear about how the assignments aren't actually due until the last day of classes (which I have to say is an absolute godsend some weeks where you are just slammed with homework, cause you can just let the assignments for this class slip through the cracks). There is a semester-long project where you have to design an app with a group that you can either select or she'll assign you one. Though it barely even feels like a project if you pick an app that you actually find interesting to make. On the topic of the project, some weeks she will fully designate a lecture to just be time to work on the project where she will just float around and answer questions or give feedback. Cannot recommend this professor enough, fully and 1000% the most goated professor in the information science program.
Connie Siebold INST311 Expecting an A Anonymous 04/09/2026	Extremely chill professor, quick and easy grader but doesn't leave a whole ton of feedback. Knows the material pretty well however. Classes were an hour and 15 minute sections, but it can truly be narrowed down to 50 minutes most of the time. INST311 is a class about how information is organized on things such as websites. It's pretty easy material but also pretty work-heavy. There is a large, semester-long group project like INST201 where you get to design an app concept, but you have to go super in-depth about things like every single property of a user's profile and what it's there for. Weekly assignments consist of a short multiple choice quiz on the lecture material, an activity or two connected to the big group project, and a "forum" post where you go find examples of the lecture material on an everyday website. These are technically all due at the end of the semester, but I would recommend doing them the weekend that they're listed as being due. The 6ish parts of the group project are due on Sunday with a 24 hour grace period. It seems like it's not a fun class but I still had a great time, and would highly recommend Siebold for this course. Final note, do not use AI in the course whatsoever, it's like her biggest rule.

However, assignments can be very long and tedious, and she will make you do two of those that are due on the same days, which are Fridays. Don't know why she doesn't make assignments due on Sundays like everyone else. BEWARE, she WILL leave you homework to do over Thanksgiving break, which is super annoying because it defeats the whole purpose of it being called a Thanksgiving BREAK. She also gives you bland feedback that is not very detailed. She still has a lot to improve on, but everyone starts somewhere.
Connie Siebold INST311 Anonymous 10/26/2025	SHE IS SO SO CHILL! She is very engaging and an easy grader. As long as you don't use AI, you're fine (she hates it), but I definitely recommend it. It's an easy A, and she's genuinely very funny (not the cringe type). Also, attendance isn't mandatory, and she grades and replies to emails VERY fast. Definitely one of my favorite professors.

The course is ACTUALLY interesting with her and she has a super grounded and relatable way of conveying things. She does a great job at structuring the course and being flexible with submissions. I walked away with a great impression of this course and learned things at my own pace in a way that was not stressful.

I found the group project very enjoyable to work on and it was nice having opportunities to catch up on work before the hard grade deadline. Only thing to worry about is just pick good people that work hard for the project. Realistically it's impossible to really fail unless you're acting like this class doesn't exist.
Connie Siebold INST311 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 05/09/2025	Connie is one of the best professors/teachers I have ever had. She is an extremely understanding and relatable person. She teaches all the lessons clearly and even when I did not enjoy the topics she found ways to get through them quickly and in a way that made sense. Most classes were presentations that she got through at a refreshingly fast pace and group work which was graded extremely fairly. She is very open to talking to people and helping when someone does not understand, even in the bigger class environment. Any class you can take with her DO IT.

Professor Connie is incredibly understanding and always gives students the time they need to complete their work. I honestly wish Professor Connie taught more classes at the iSchool. The online lectures were both informative and engaging, making the material easy to follow. I highly recommend taking the class – you won’t regret it!
