Professor Smith has easily become one of my favorite professors! He's so nice and understanding. He is easy to approach with any questions/concerns and creates a comfortable environment for students to actively want to participate during lectures. The class itself is easy. You do need to show up to class because there's an in-class activity that you can't do without being present. I liked being able to discuss what we wrote with our classmates around us because it allowed me to easily make new friends in the class. Before every class, there is a quiz to ensure that you have read the text related to the day's lesson. Every week, you need to write a 1-2 page paper connecting something discussed in class to your own life. Honestly, it really helped me when it came to preparing for exams because you have some good examples already in mind. Following up on exams, there are 2 midterms and the final. Each exam is mainly multiple choice and you are given 6-8 short-response questions, with you only required to answer 5-7 of them. This was a great class! I have seen myself subconsciously thinking about what we discussed in class during my day-to-day interactions. Highly, highly recommend this class with Professor Smith!

Overall he was a good and cool professor. Exams were only easy if you studied, and there are weekly papers and quizzes. I would recommend, he showed us videos and has nice powerpoint.

Such an amazing professor! The class is very easy and honestly Professor Smith makes it really fun. He makes an effort to connect with the students and is really funny. Professor Smith really cares about the success of his students and makes an effort to have everyone participate and learns everyone's names. The main assignments for this class are weekly quizzes and short one to two page papers but both do not take a lot of time or effort. There are also three exams which are really easy as long as you pay attention in class. On one of the tests the average was below and 85 so he made an effort to curve the exam and help raise everyone's grades which I found very cool of him. Within lecture there are participation assignments which are also not hard and often apply what we are learning to real life. I genuinely believe Professor Smith is the best professor I have ever had and I would definitely take another one of his classes if given the opportunity!

the midterms are relatively easy if you study for it. he does have a review session in class before the exam to go over the major topics. he is very nice and funny. really good professor. there are in class participation assignments every single lecture, attendance isn't mandatory, but if you dont attend the class, you won't know what the in class participation question is on. the weekly quizzes are done in your own time and it is not difficult as all the answers can be found in the textbook.

We had weekly papers (only had to do 8, lowest 2 grades was dropped), 3 exams (including final), and weekly short quizzes based off the chapter reading. Overall easy class and course. The book is required to pass because theres short small quizzes on it but he does talk about it in class as well. He's a great teacher, very funny!

I really enjoyed SOCY230 and Professor Smith. He genuinely cared about the success of his students and ensured that the content directly translated to the exams. He also incorporated discussion activities into the lecture, making it nice to find applications of the information to our daily lives. He also does exam reviews before each exam which helped with exam preparedness, and the weekly reading quizzes were not difficult either. Professor Smith is also on the younger side so it made it easier to talk and connect with him. He also tries to remember the names of students that actively participate in lecture. We even talked about contemporary pop and dating culture which made this class even more engaging. I absolutely recommend him for this course and definitely would take another class with him if presented with the opportunity.
