Kate Smitherman COMM107 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/07/2024	Ms. Smitherman is an AMAZING professor who truly cares about and wants the best for every single one of her students. She was always so energetic and understanding about your circumstances, and she even took the time to learn things about us, like what we wanted to do in life. She always explained the assignments, which were 5 speeches and 10 easy homeworks (like 5 minutes of work). I can't recommend her enough for anyone taking COMM107. She understands everyone's fear of public speaking and doesn't ask for too much, and her grading is pretty fair. You are always graded on participation/attendance, so it's not a class you can skip without an excuse.

Kate Smitherman Expecting an A Anonymous 11/22/2024	Kate Smitherman is a great professor and any person who wants to take COMM107, should take this class should absolutely do it with her. She is engaging with her classes and makes sure that everyone can get talking time. Ironic because around 40% of your grade is participation. She's young and so she can understand and feel the feeling of first or second year college students. However, do not feel too comfortable in this class, she will start grading harsher in the second half of the semester so be warned about that. The fact that she's so young means she has a long teaching career or professional speaking career ahead of her. Would take a class of hers again.

Kate Smitherman COMM107 Expecting an A Anonymous 11/19/2024	The professor is really a great teacher who cares about her students and what she teaches. Attendance is mandatory because it is a public speaking class, but she really makes you feel comfortable and she is very personable. We had about 5 speeches throughout the semester and the longest speech I had to do alone was 7 minutes. She is also very understanding about deadlines for assignments as long as you do your work. She really is a great professor especially if you have anxiety about public speaking.
