Very hands-on class, with a few long lectures and mostly in-class assignments that you work on independently. Some assignments (especially near the end) are hard and the lecture doesn't prepare you well for them, but the answers are always revealed before you submit. If you haven't done any programming before or you took your statistics classes years ago, this may be a frustrating class at times, but you are given a ton of time to work through problems. Professor's nice, if a bit technical in his explanations. Overall, recommend. |

This class is super interesting, if a little technical. The lectures can be extremely dense and the Powerpoint slides usually have very little text on them, mostly graphs. But he explains each experiment and each graph extremely well. You need to take really detailed notes to understand everything, which is tough when he says so much so fast, but rewatching the parts of lecture you missed helps. The tests were all extremely simple multiple choice -- about 1/3 of each test comes directly from the weekly ELMS quizzes, which weren't too bad either if your notes were detailed. The professor's also just a nice dude. |

The most boring and vague lecturer ever. His powerpoints are just graphs and he does an awful job at explaining them. Posts lectures but you can barely hear him. He takes forever to get to the point and repeats the same vague explanations in different ways whenever you ask a question. He was the only option so I had to take him. The overall class isn't awful but he shouldn't be teaching this class. |
