Definitely take COMM107 with Esther if you can. She is a PHD student in Communication, and makes the class super chill. The class is compromised of five or so big speeches, and for those at least the assignments are pretty straightforward. She introduces the speech, and you submit an outline before it's due. Some speeches require slides, some are group, and some individual. It's a very easy class if you just speak, basically. With Esther, I will say that to get a better grade, try to practice your speech at least once before so it seems a little rehearsed. Try not to rely on your notecard, etc. She isn't the best communicator of instructions (ironically) but every assignment has slides and it's pretty easy to figure out on your own. She's very sweet and the most 'strict' she got was telling people not to go on their phones during the presentations. Definitely recommend Esther.

She is really nice. Fast grader and doesn’t make you feel bad if you do bad on a speech. The only thing is one she doesn’t explain the assignments well, the speeches don’t really have much of a guideline you should follow so you never know what she really wants. If you miss one day and it’s one she introduces the speech you are coked because Canvas doesn’t have the explanations. Also she tends to call out students in like a joke way but sometimes it can just be embarrassing for the student. And lastly it is hard to understand her sometimes because her accent is so heavy.

Oh Esther my queen. I highly recommend her and this class. I know public speaking is scary but she makes the environment very casual and she's very kind and not a very harsh grader. She acknowledges how public speaking is a common fear and is helpful in overcoming that. Not necessarily the best "teacher" but getting good at speaking comes from practice so I definitely recommend.

As someone who doesn't hate public speaking but doesn't love it, her class was easy and fun. She is a PHD student who is super chill. The lowest grade I received was a 97. All you got to do is put words down and say something and you will get a A. Her HW instruction were sometimes a little unclear but she an example you can follow. Also give you a lot of time in class to do them. Overall I would highly recommend taking her class.
