She is one of the sweetest professors I have had here at UMD. She tries to make the course enjoyable for everyone. She drops your lowest problem set, reading quiz, and exam which is really helpful. For the exams, they are open book and open notes and I felt very prepared by just reviewing the problem sets and reading quizzes. She genuinely wants everyone to succeed. I definitely recommend taking this class with her! |

Like most of the reviews say, Soppelsa is a nice person but I just couldn't get that engaged with the class. However, she always tries to ask questions and involve the class in her lectures. The exams are open note and you can bring the book with you, which was so helpful. The exams have a lot of content from previous chapter quizzes and problem sets, so make sure to review that as well as the lectures. The chapter readings each week were kinda tough to get through, and I didn't enjoy the quizzes on them. But the quizzes weren't timed so you can take as long as you need. |

One of the nicest professors I have taken, she will go out of her way to make sure you succeed in this class. Her lectures are a bit boring, and she typically posts the slides, so I struggled a bit paying attention, but she explains things well and the exams and assignments are very reflective of what is taught in class and in the textbook. She also dropped the lowest exam grade, which made this a lot less stressful. Awesome person and a good teacher. |

She's a very sweet person, but I didn't find this course particularly engaging. She mainly just reads off the slides, but there are participation points for attendance. The guest lectures were some of the more interesting parts of this class. |

shes very nice, but her grading policy is super strict. Her teaching is also mid at best. But she is super nice again lol. |

She is the BEST professor ever. Dr. Soppelsa is extremely kind, never turned down a question from a student, she makes sure a student understands before moving on, and her exams are easy if you study. Her TA Luna also does review sessions the class period before an exam. 2 midterms and a cumulative final. |

Really nice professor and is very straightforward with explanations of the material. She and her TA, Laura, genuinely care about the students and the class doesn't involve too much work. There are two midterms and one final with 6 homework throughout the semester. However, there is no extra credit so definitely do all of the homework to the best of your ability, however, one homework will get dropped. Overall, this class was really interesting and would definitely recommend it. |

The class as a whole was not the most engaging- in part because it is about cows and the production of wheat like 50% of the time, but Maria was a very kind professor and the TA Laura for this class was great, especially with guiding you on your homework. I would recommend taking this class! |
