ARTT110 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 11/23/2024 |
Jill was a really chill teacher. The rough outline of the course was still life, figure/portrait, and a brief landscape unit. A lot of time was devoted to doing quick studies to build familiarity with the subjects of our drawings. The course was well paced and the professor allowed a good amount of flexibility. During class, Jill would go around and help students or give them advice for improvement, ultimately making themself really available when anyone asked for help. I really enjoyed this studio class and I think I improved a lot. |

Jill is very nice and made this class approachable and inclusive to everyone. The class is exactly what you would expect for ARTT110. Every class, the instructor and TA would walk around and check up on everyone's drawings. You are graded on class participation and three portfolios that are due throughout the semester. Most of the portfolio drawings were done in class. We did not have any homeworks other than working on our independent project for each portfolio, so the workload is pretty light. Since there are so many students, it is a little hard to receive a lot of feedback, but if you ever reach out for guidance, you will definitely receive it. |

Jill is such an amazing professor. The way they grade on your drawings are not based on how good your art skill is but based by how well you followed the instruction and the topic of the drawing. The feedback that professor gave me were really helpful to improve my drawings, and engaged me to learn more new things. Jill only takes grade on participation and 3 portfolios throughout the semester. You should be fine if you attend every class, but even then you get 1 'no question asked free to skip class' thing and professor Jill also canceled class when eclipse was happening :) Mostly it's in class work and you only have to take things home for independent project for portfolio which is only 3 times for entire semester. |
