This is my least favorite TA I have ever taken. I don't say this to be mean, simply to be accurate. I started out this semester defending him to many of my classmates as I feel as though they had been unreasonably harsh in their judgements of him. However, as the semester progressed, he continued to prove them right. A couple of my main complaints: 1. Our exams were graded by him and our sections averages were consistently lower (by at least 5-10 points, if not more) than the rest of the class. When we brought this up to him, he claimed that he was just grading us based off of our understanding of the material, but when looking at the answer key he was given many of the responses he removed points for met all of the requirements listed by the answer key. It was to the point where multiple students reached out to the professor about this, and the professor agreed with us, but would rarely give points back as what was done was done. For some questions I had the same response (word for word as it was a three word answer) with other students and while they had gotten full points I had gotten half off. 2. I have never met a professor/TA who lacks this much empathy. He explicitly said multiple times during the course he expects us to be taking 2 hours EVERY NIGHT to be studying for this course totaling 14 HOURS a week. These are things that he has explicitly told our class. When students brought up other commitments such as jobs/clubs/other classes his only response was that "you are a student first if you signed up for this class you should be able to commit the time to it". A statement I do agree with, but students signed up for this class with the assumption of working for a maximum of 9 hours a week for this class, 14 hours is unreasonable. When a student brought up that she had to work a job to keep herself in college he said and I quote "that is not my problem". He himself on the other hand would be the last TA to grade out exam and it would excuse it because "I've had a busy week". That happened at least 7 or 8 times this semester. The level of hypocrisy that he exhibited was unprofessional, and honestly just plain rude. 3. He is one of the most condescending professors/TAs I have ever had. I went to ask him a genuine question about something I got wrong on the test (not to argue for any points back I knew I was wrong), he asked me and I quote "and you don't know the answer to that?". I spent 10 minutes going over my wrong answers on the test with him as I wanted to improve for the final and it was the first time I cried after speaking to a TA/professor. Once again he was just plain rude. 4. He is terrible at teaching. Half of the time he wouldn't know what we were doing in lab, and would spend ten minutes in the beginning trying to figure out what the lab actually consisted of. (I would once again like to point out the hypocrisy here in his actions and how he conducted himself). When we would ask him questions we only ever received half assed answers that never actually answered our questions. I learned nothing from this man, and he truly made that entire lab feel as though it was a massive waste of my time. Overall, I do not think this man should be allowed to be a TA. There is truly not a single compliment I can give this man as though I feel like he has done nothing that I have viewed in a positive light. I would tell anyone I know to take this class with anyone but him. And that they would rather take an extra semester at college and delay graduation than to be in his class. |

He is the worst TA anyone could ever get. It is clear that he comes to lab unprepared, and does not understand the content himself. When asking him questions or trying to get help he become extremely rude and condescending instead of providing help. He often becomes aggressive and rude when asked a question he doesn't know the answer to. Outside of not being able to provide support to his students, his grading is horrendous. He often marks correct answers wrong, and grades questions incorrectly on top of being an extremely harsh grader. Our sections averages were well below other sections, and often times students had to go to the professor to request regrades. If he is grading your exams check behind him and make sure your score adds up. AVOID HIM AT ALL COST!!! |

he sucks. he grades more harshly than all the other TAs and when you go to ask him he acts stuck up and lacks any form of real empathy. he is always beyond condescending, has made multiple students cry. at the beginning of the semester I was defending him, but he truly doesn't care about his students at all. hell offer to help them before exams and then will disappear when they actually need help and reach out to him. if you are going to take 330 TAKE IT WITH ANYONE BUT HIM. his test averages were at least 6 to 7 points lower than the class average if not even lower. |
