Such a stellar professor! Professor Thomas really cares about her students on a personal level and dedicates time to ensuring her students are in a welcoming and friendly class environment. This is a class I have genuinely felt excited to attend every week. The content is easily understandable and digestible. She incorporates activities into the class to ensure that all students are able to apply the skills learned. This is also the first class where I feel like I was genuinely able to achieve meaningful friendships because of the nature of the course. It requires emotional vulnerability and open-mindedness. I can count at least two genuine connections I have made throughout my time in this course, and I feel like it is difficult to say the same for other gen-ed courses! Professor Thomas makes an effort to make the class interesting with fun weekly icebreakers and instructional videos. The major assignments are easily manageable and there is enough time given to complete them--she is also flexible with extensions. Her teaching style is simple and understandable. There are weekly slides posted that you can take notes from. She assigns readings but also covers content from said readings in class to ensure understanding. The workload is appropriate for the number of credits. Outside of class, I probably spent at MOST 3 hours a week on this course. There are a couple of group projects that are a major part of your grade but there is ample time given and thankfully I was easily able to communicate with my group members. TDLR: great class, workload is manageable, professor is very understanding and helpful. |
