Professor Tobin was very nice, and definitely cares about students. However, he takes excessively long to grade. Throughout the semester we had a series of pass fail assignments, and the rest were related to our final project. The only thing graded up until November were the pass fail assignments. However, the assignments related to our final project which started in September didn’t start being graded until the last few weeks of the semester. Majority feedback that would’ve aided students in revising and perfecting their final wasn’t graded until after the final was due. Due to receiving such little feedback throughout the entire semester on the largest grade, this left students thinking they were doing well in the course considering all the drafts for the final related assignments were pass-fail.

HE IS AMAZING! Business Writing ENGL394 totally changed how I see English courses. The assignments were super practical (like writing thank-you letters I actually used), and Dr. Tobin made everything feel relevant and fun. He’s super approachable, always quick to respond to emails, and shares personal stories that make class enjoyable. If you want a professor who really cares and keeps things engaging, take his class—you won’t regret it!

Great teacher! Incredibly friendly and patient. He truly wants you to succeed and is very accommodating. He carries interesting discussions in class that engage pretty much everyone and is a blast to listen to. He keeps the learning material interesting and relevant and finds a way to have everyone do something they are truly invested in while learning English. He grades fairly, so as long as you put your best foot forward and show you tried, you will do well in the class.
