Kevin Tu BSCI238D Anonymous 12/14/2021	Kevin is a really nice and knowledgeable professor. He made the class pretty fun and enjoyable. Some of the course content may be challenging but Kevin holds regular office hours and responds to student questions pretty quickly outside of class whether it is about an assignment or course material. The course content itself is interesting and very useful for biology research. Plus the memes are always a bonus.

Kevin Tu BSCI238D Anonymous 05/06/2021	Kevin was an awesome professor and knows so much about what he is teaching. His assignments and lectures were enjoyable and the live lectures were helpful because he would walk through the problems and topics with us. Overall, there wasn't much time consuming work, but the work given teaches you a lot!

He is also funny so he made lectures enjoyable, he is also very helpful and had office hours where he would walk through the problems with us if there was any questions. The final project was a bit tough but overall the class was not bad I recommend taking this class with him.
Kevin Tu BSCI238D Expecting an A Anonymous 05/06/2021	This class was super informative for someone doing biology research, I learned so much about lab techniques. The class is not a lot of work at all, about 2-3 hours a week to watch the lectures/do the quizzes and homework. Kevin was a great teacher and was very understanding when it came to extending deadlines.
Kevin Tu BSCI238D Anonymous 05/06/2021	Kevin is a very chill and helping guy, he has office hours for if you have any questions and he helps you work through the problems. The final project is pretty hard but other than that the class is chill and manageable.
Kevin Tu BSCI238D Expecting an A Anonymous 05/06/2021	Lectures were always engaging and felt like relevant information to know. He gave extra credit for sending memes in the class groupme, so there was never a shortage of those. Sometimes STIC teachers can get a bit of a superiority complex, but I never felt that way about Kevin. He always was very understanding of us all being students. I would definitely recommend him if you're interested in learning about research.
Kevin Tu BSCI238D Expecting an A Anonymous 05/05/2021	Kevin really knows his stuff. Ask him questions and he will explain the concepts beautifully. My only complaint is that his quizzes were incredibly hard. We had infinite attempts, though. Definitely take notes. We only met once a week, so it is easy to forget concepts. His exam was very easy online. The project is not hard if you start it early and ask Kevin questions. Due to all of the extra credit, work ethic was very low and my teammates slacked on the project. I am happy with my grade, but I do not like that students take advantage of Kevin's generosity. Kevin's guidelines could be a little clearer and more actionable.
Kevin Tu BSCI238D Expecting an A Anonymous 05/04/2021	Kevin is the leader of the student-initiated course about mini preps and important lab techniques. This course is very helpful for that one credit you need and will also help solidify your scientific mindset. The course focuses on practical laboratory techniques and troubleshooting when things go awry. The class is low stress and very interactive and fun. There are lots of EC opportunities and Kevin is very approachable and helpful

Kevin Tu BSCI238D Anonymous 05/02/2021	Kevin was a great prof and super funny! The class is a bit more work than you would normally have in a 1 credit class (excluding 1 credit labs) but it was still really interesting and I learned a lot. He is very lenient on deadlines which is great and is super understanding. I recommend you take his class!!!

Very caring and generous, pretty laid back instructor who is really passionate about getting you interested in research and explaining techniques you will see! I learned a lot and it really gives context to a lot of procedures you’ll do in other lab classes! Make sure to post weekly memes in the chat for extra credit and to start the final project well ahead of time!!

He has a way of making sure all students are engaged with the material and is quick to answer any questions you have. It was really nice to have someone so responsive even when you are doing the homework near the due time. I really enjoyed this class and recommend you take it!

He incorporates memes and corny jokes into the lectures and extra credits. His grading is fair and the assignments are straightforward.

Kevin Tu BSCI238D Anonymous 11/25/2020	Kevin is a great teacher for this class- he explains everything clearly, is organized, and really just wants everyone to learn the cool information about research lab kits instead of focusing on grades. He is very friendly to everyone in the class and we have a hilarious group chat where posting science memes gets you extra credit!
Kevin Tu BSCI238D Expecting an A Anonymous 11/25/2020	Kevin was a very knowledgeable and helpful instructor for the course. Weekly lectures were detailed and finished on time. Outside of the lectures, Kevin was great at communicating with students and addressing concerns about assignments, grades, and class material. If you have the chance to take this course, Kevin does a satisfactory job of taking care of his students and making sure they earn grades that accurately reflect their effort.

He gives little work, grades very fairly, and offers enough extra credit for everyone to get A’s. Best experience I’ve had with a course at UMD all thanks to Professor Tu!

The work load was very fair and the content of the course was extremely interesting, especially if you have prior lab experience. Overall, Kevin is a great guy and I would recommend that anyone interested in research or lab techniques in general to take this class with him.
