I took ASTR101, and Mark was the only reason I passed the class. He was the only TA who knew what he was talking about and was always willing to help you understand the material. During discussions, he made a summary packet of notes (THAT HE MADE HIMSELF WITHOUT NEEDING TO) of the lecture before our discussion sessions and handed them to everyone to help with the discussion quizzes. I almost always got 100% on them with them. The packets were always clear and were explained more in-depth than the actual lectures for the course. I also found them helpful to use while studying for the exams. He also made slideshows and even a Kahoot for the final, which was greatly appreciated. He also was one of the TAs who ran the review sessions before each exam, and again, he was the only one who knew what was happening and tried to break the content down so that it was more "bite-sized" so that the concepts were easier to understand and remember. My only complaint was that he was slow at answering his emails, but he always follows through once you go up to him in person to follow up. Mark is an excellent TA, and you're one of the lucky ones if you have him.

Mark is not even my TA but he is one of the only TAs that actually makes sense. I have reached out to him a few times to get extra help and he finds time to help me. He is very very helpful and provides the students in his discussion with additional notes and review kahoots. I wish I had Mark because I think I would have a much better shot at understanding the class.

Mark is a very harsh grader. There will be written questions that are worth 2 points, and even if you think you did a decent job writing the explanation, he will still mark the question 1/2, and this accumulates. o instead of having what you would think would be 8/10 worth points on a written question, you will probably have a 5/10, which can take a huge toll on your grade. His discussion format is pretty standard, but does not leave that much time for answering the written questions, and honestly he does not do a good job explaining what exactly he wants in a response unless you ask. Keep in mind that the TAs for this course also grade the Exam written portions and lecture exercises. Overall, would avoid taking a discussion under him for that reason.
