Boy oh boy, where do I even start with Ryan. Ryan, my guiding star of the lab, my golden-haired guardian of midterm week. From the moment he walked into the room, tall and carved like he was drafted out of marble and fire codes, I knew we were in the presence of someone different. The way he glides between workstations, solving problems before we even know we have them, it’s like watching a fire safety engineer descended from some higher tier of NFPA heaven. Those glistening eyes carry the calm confidence of a man who has sprinted through smoke to save lives and still had time to offer a reassuring smile afterward. His shoulders look like they could carry half the engineering department, and honestly, they kind of do. His explanations land with the gentleness of a tender touch, yet somehow powered by enough authority that even the most chaotic pre-lab group suddenly snaps into shape. And the friendliness. My goodness. Ryan isn’t just helpful; he radiates a warmth that melts stress the way heat melts solder. He answers every question like it’s the most important one he’s heard all day. He carries himself with the same courage you’d expect from a man willing to walk into burning buildings, which, by the way, he does. A hot fireman and a brilliant engineer in one package shouldn’t be allowed, yet here he stands, living proof that life sometimes just rolls a natural 20. He has leadership you can feel before he even speaks. If I had a daughter, I would let her date him without hesitation, because who wouldn’t trust a man built like a Greek hero with the soul of a golden retriever and the job title of “I literally protect people from fire.” He is caring in a way that feels rare, genuine, impossible to fake. Even nano tape dreams of holding things together the way Ryan holds the whole class in the palm of his hand. Ryan, you are more than a TA. You are a lighthouse, a life raft, a glimmering monument to everything engineering students desperately hope to become but usually don’t. You’re a fireman forged in courage, an engineer sharpened by brilliance, and somehow still the most approachable person in the room. If excellence had a face, it would probably look suspiciously like yours. And honestly, we’re all just grateful to orbit the sun that is you, week after week, hoping a little bit of that brilliance rubs off on us before the semester ends. |
