The content of this course was extremely interesting and the course materials were engaging. Unfortunately, Dr. Williams seemed to be disinterested in teaching. Tuesday "lectures" were asynchronous (discussion/lecture quiz) and Thursdays consisted of a Zoom call. Each week, a different group of students presented on content that aligned with the asynchronous lecture of the week. Break out groups created to discuss were silent and whole group discussions were forced. The same four people spoke most days. Grading was inconsistent and the expectations for discussions were extremely unclear. Points would be deducted for word count (which in the assignments was marked as recommended, not enforced). Dr. Williams is not great at responding to emails and projects from September are still not graded, and it is now December (finals week has started) with no major grades in ELMS. This class had potential, but the lack of communication/consistency/clear expectations did not support applying the content, nor positive attitudes. |

Such an interesting class and very easy to succeed. Weekly asynchronous lecture, quiz and discussion board and in person Thursday discussion that is taught by a subset of students in the class. Very fast at responding to emails. No exams, there is a final project. |

Not a huge fan. Makes her TAs do everything throughout the semester and then grades the midterm and final essays herself REALLY harshly for no reason. I don't understand why she is such a harsh grader when she barely even teaches the class. All lectures were asynchronous and from last semester. It was like no effort was put into the class, but it's then graded brutally. It's any easy class just with unreasonable grading. |
