Overall, the class was very interesting as Winston never taught the class until this semester. He's very nerdy which adds to the ambiance of his knowledge, always referencing something hip hop and cracking a dad joke. The reading is essential to the conversations we have in class as well as the discussion boards and he counts attendance towards your grade so be mindful with that; sometimes the readings are heavy and the material is heavy emotionalyl and mentally. The coursework is very interesting and very relevant to the Black community if that's something you're interested in. There is one group project, a mid-term, and a final which are the bigger parts of your grade, a little tough of a grader but not too bad. I enjoyed it and would take it again! |

Dr. Winston had never taught this course before, but it is clear that he is super interested in the topics. You definitely have to do the reading, but it is completely manageable, and the coursework is genuinely really interesting. I highly recommend this professor and this class. |

Very fun class, be aware this class is structured around art-related assignments, so this class will be a bit more challenging if you are not some sort of artist. Professor loves teaching, but I wish he did teach more about writing as that's what we're being graded on, but the discussions he holds are engaging and entertaining. |

This professor gossips too much about hip-hop music and spends literally 1 hr of class every time that is completely irrelevant to the class. Also, there's a lack of peer critique and feedback on writing. This is supposed to be a writing class. I have no problem getting good grades but I am not learning anything from this professor. I strongly regret taking a class from him. |

Overall, very good professor. Made this course as easy as it could be. Very accommodating. A bit awkward, but it was endearing. Idk if/when he'll teach this class in person again, but he used the same elms page for in-person and virtual students, which led to a lot of confusion the first two weeks. It was all fine in the end, and I think it was worth the confusion to have him. He is a very reasonable grader and grades assignments in a timely manner. Very nice guy. I would recommend! |

Winston was a great professor. It's an english class, so expect to put in a fair amount of effort. I took the asynchronous section, so all assignments were posted in the beginning of the semester with the due dates laid out. The main assignments consisted of the core essays (instructions, proposal, infographic, ePortfolio), along with voice threads and discussions. I think the assignments were properly paced, and Winston was responsive to any concerns over email. Overall, a pretty straightforward english class that was graded quite fairly! |

Good professor with reasonable expectations. If you put in the effort that a 300-level English course requires and don't procrastinate then you will do well. Dr. Winston is probably one of the better ENGL393 professors available. |

I had Professor Winston for online ENGL393. His assignments were very reasonable and he was an extremely fair grader. Some of the assignments are time consuming, especially the proposal paper, so don't leave that one till the last minute! Overall I HIGHLY recommend taking him for online ENGL393. |

I had Professor Winston for ENGL393 and thought that he as a very reasonable professor. As long as you follow his instructions and look at the rubric, he always graded the assignments fairly. Although the course was not that difficult, the workload could be heavy at some points. |

Awesome professor, really chill and down to earth. Also a big hip hop fan if you're into that. |
