Such a lovely professor. She is so sweet and kind, and the course is clearly well organized and well taught. There is no busy work. I felt like this course was extremely valuable, especially as someone who is already really into reading self help books. You also really get to know your peers in the class and it feels like you made a bunch of new friends by the end of the semester.

Very informative and useful gen ed. Not too much work, but you will have to attend class. Definitely the most useful gen ed I've taken though, so it is worth the attendance. Weekly assignments take about an hour tops and mostly require you to watch a Ted Talk or read an article and then answer some questions and finally write a reflective journal-like entry. Prof Wolek is super understanding and hosts a number of specialists in their field to come give talks that are very informative.

This class is extremely manageable - all you have to do is keep up with two weekly modules (where you watch some videos and read some articles) and a weekly reflection. She sometimes has you do in-class assignments, which are usually allowed as your submission for your weekly reflection. She requires participation points and has an in-person attendance sheet to correlate them, however, she can be nice about it. As a professor, I found her amazing because she genuinely makes the content relevant and interesting. The entire class is about how to develop yourself as a person and explore your past experiences, present values, and future aspirations. I've genuinely never been sadder that a class has ended. Please take the class, it is so easy and highly fulfilling.

This class is such an easy class. I also found it to be useful for the future. It gave students the opportunity to stop and think about themselves which I really like. I highly recommend this class to everyone and every major.

A wonderful and reflective course! Yes, there is work in this class, but it is dedicated to you and building your future - in my opinion it is well worth the investment. Professor Wolek is exceptionally kind and committed to helping her student find and build a future fulfilling to them. This was one of my favourite classes thus far - I highly recommend!

Professor Wolek is one of the best professors that I've had at the University of Maryland and takes the time to personalize her course work to students by asking for constant feedback and tailoring her assignments to be centered around what it really means to be a college student during this time. The coursework is super engaging- if anyone complains about it it's probably because they didn't take the time necessary to benefit from the work. If you turn in all of your assignments and show up to class it's super easy to get an A and you'll honestly get so much out of the class. You learn ways to deal with stress, how to function in all different kinds of relationships and how to pick a future career/life path that combines your passions, interests and financial/educational goals. Would 100% recommend taking this course!!

I don't know why people are pressed about the class being too much work, y'all are just lazy. PROS: It is a genuine class that is revolved around YOU! It is about how to be a better person, you get to reflect a lot on what you do and what you can do as an individual. Professor Wolek is very kind and genuinely wants each of her students to succeed in life. I thoroughly enjoyed the final which was a personal story about something from your past that really shaped who you are. It was a very moving and powerful experience. Everyone has a story and that is what this class is about, so be prepared to be vulnerable if you are willing and share about yourself! CONS: I think that the excel spreadsheets we had to do were a bit tedious and I didn't really enjoy doing them. Some of the assignments can be formatted better and be given a different way. Another thing too were the modules. They can be a bit busy work-esque but the class is focused on many aspects of how to build a better life so it may be necessary.

Too much work, I'd take another class. Yes course is beneficial for yourself and prof is good but it isn't worth the time especially for fulfilling credits.

This course was one of the only useful classes I have taken in college. It helps you navigate and plan for a future that you truly want to have. Throughout this course you learn more about yourself including both your struggles, weaknesses and values. This is essential to understand when trying to live your best life. I would highly recommend this class.

Great professor overall no issues, but the content is a bit much for just a 100-level class. There is too much writing each week in my opinion but it isn't hard. Attendance is mandatory so missing class will lead to losing a lot of points

This class is very easy. Just make sure to show up to class because there are mandatory in-class discussion questions that are part of the final grade. Wolek is very nice and eager to help you succeed. I was not a fan of the material as it is pretty boring/stupid, but it is so easy which makes it very much worth it.

I cannot recommend this instructor or course enough. The entire semester is built around building connections with your peers in the class as well as getting to know yourself better. As a result of this class i have made several new friends and also have a much better idea of my future.

BMGT160 under Professor Wolek was a fun experience. Professor Wolek is super kind and makes an effort to get to know each student individually. This course provides a unique perspective on how to live a fulfilling life, achieve your goals, learn what's important to you, and understand your personal values. Having taken mainly math and CS courses at UMD, this class was a relaxing course I would look forward to during the week. The workload is completely manageable (couple readings, free response questions, and reflection per week) that takes at most 2 hours per week. Attendance is graded though, but you won't get anything out of the course if you don't come to class. In the first 2 weeks, you'll get an understanding of what to expect for the whole semester, so you can switch out if you don't feel comfortable with the content. Note that this class relies on group discussions and talking about personal experiences so be willing to share stories about your life. If you're looking to take an "easy" or insightful gen-ed, I'd 100% recommend this. It's chill and you get to learn a lot about yourself, and you get to meet a lot of cool people.

This class was a waste of time. The professor is kind, but the course is awkward, and there is so much work each week. Also, she grades attendance as participation.

Professor Wolek is the absolute BEST. The class itself is about each student's own life, and every module is truly applicable to improving your life. Sarah is also the nicest human being and makes class worth attending. I cannot recommend her enough.

She is a terrific professor that genuinely wants her students to succeed both in the class and in the real world. Although this class mostly involved outside speakers, her lectures were very engaging and student-oriented. The class is not at all difficult; she wants you to take something away from the class beyond a letter grade, and the workload reflects that. I highly recommend taking this class or another one of hers if you have a chance
