Terrible, terrible instructor. I refuse to call him a professor because he fails to teach in any way. His explanations are extremely unclear considering he is teaching a group of undergraduates some with no coding experience. Instead of working on the code alongside us, he copies and pastes large chunks of ALREADY WRITTEN code into R studio expecting us to somehow catch up with him. Sometimes, he doesn't even bother doing that and just scrolls through the answers (which involve complex code) expecting us to follow. Teaching advice- you should NEVER be teaching a class through answers. He is the laziest instructor I've ever had, posting nearly impossible homework projects that even he is "too lazy" (exact quote) to provide us answers for! Extremely frustrated that Quantitative Finance would have such an inexperienced person teaching their courses. |

Wish I could give 0 stars, probably the worst professor I've ever had in my life, never explains anything, claims he's "too lazy" to even give students answer keys to the HW (which are written in poor English and make no sense anyways). He's currently a PhD student, but really doesn't deserve to earn a PhD, much less ever teach a class in the future. Seems intelligent but seem like it's all talk, he doesn't act like it at all and probably is some dumbass given a low salary so the pigs at RH Smith don't spend too much money on their students. My advice is as long as Jinming is teaching, drop Quantitative Finance fellows, it's not worth it, his class will waste your time & you're much better learning things either on your own or taking other classes. |
