Good professor. I learnt a lot of thermal transport in the course. Keeps the lecture slides to what’s important to grasp the material. Took two courses with professor Bao and had similar positive experiences. |

Despite what has been written in other ratings, I thought his teaching method was effective. He uses PowerPoint presentations from the book, which summarizes what you as engineer need to know. I liked that. I was also able to read the book in cases needed extra information to understand at a deeper level. The text books for the class are very helpful, written in simple English, easy to comprehend the material. I also liked that he engages the class by using in class exercises and someone goes to the board to show how they solved the problem. I’d definitely take his course again. |

Took ENME332 in spring of 2023 with Bao Yang and Siddhartha Das. Had a completely different experience than the previous reviews here. Exams were very straightforward and extremely fair, and the practice exams they released were spot on as far as problem relevancy and difficulty, so pay attention to them! Exam grading was weird, but overall very lenient. Some small conceptual mistakes and mathematical errors were graded oddly harsh, though. Lecture is where most of the material is introduced and studio is where you apply the theory and go through much more advanced problems. Dr. Yang does read off lecture slides, and sometimes it's hard to understand him or the point he is trying to make, but he tries his best and always had a great attitude. Homeworks had a few gimmies, but we're generally about on par with the studios in terms of problem difficulty. Labs were simple enough, easier than 331 labs. I found Bao Yang to be easily accessible, respectful, and kind outside of the classroom, and he didn't make this course harder than it needed to be. |

Dr. Yang did not do much to help students learn material. His lecturing style consisted of him reading off strictly from lecture slides with lots of information. These slides are posted ahead of time, but there is a lot of content to cover. At the end of the slides, he added a practice quiz question, but since there was a lot to cover in the lectures, most people did not know the answer. Most of the learning came from studio section and not lecture. |

I wrote a review for my fluids professor because I thought he was going to be the worst professor I've ever experienced. Unfortunately I was very wrong after taking Bao Yang for heat transfer. only reads off slides (spends little time on a slide with lots of info), gives 2 homework the night before exams (material isn't on the exam... and normal weeks only have one homework due), and his TA's are even worse (act like their teaching at gunpoint and they would get shot in the first 5 minutes). this man is horrible |

Was unable to learn from his slides, ended up just skipping lectures and reading the book in order to learn the class. The important focus was being able to find the example in the book that the problem is similar to and find out which table you need to look at. |

pretty nice guy but he can't really teach mostly due to a language barrier. basically took stuff out of the book and put it on a powerpoint. exams were open book and his questions were pretty much exactly like the example problems given in the book, but he changes one or two things but the things he does change make the exam questions 10x harder than the examples. |
