Very GOOD teacher! She actually teaches to learn. The entire class is case based so you have to apply what is thought to the cases each week. The exams are all open note but are difficult. One thing I would say negative about her is the amount that she stresses participation during the cases and needs all groups to present at least once, however she will tear groups apart who have mistakes in their presentations, which makes groups not want to present. |

I have never left a review on here before. I am currently a master's student, but I also went to UMD undergrad. Yang has honestly been the most confusing professor I have ever had ( I have taken O-Chem 2, so I know confusing topics lol ). Her class has no structure, and she jumps from one topic to another without any explanation. Trying to follow the material is impossible, and I leave every class more confused than when I arrive. She stops students mid-presentation and criticizes them before they even finish, which makes it hard to follow. The lack of structure makes the material ( that should be easy ) confusing. I have learned topics in two lectures with other professors better than with her over two terms. I am not leaving this review because of a bad grade or anything along those lines; I just genuinely believe she does not listen to feedback, and her rating on here does not match what you will encounter. If you have her, do not try to have her teach you material, or you will be lost. She has been given feedback by many students, but has yet to change her teaching style, and I feel that it is just not worth it to take her. If you can avoid her as a professor, I would suggest it. This is not a rip on her character as she is nice; this is solely about the class and teaching style. |

I love her so much since you will learn a lot in class but I have to admit that her class makes me stressed out. We had case for each week as group project and each of them took so many hours. Even though she explains everything clearly in class, most of us did so bad in final that we believed we would need to retake. She will assign letter grade based on the performance of the whole class so that even though I did terrible in final, I still get an A at the end. |
