The professor is nice. But I did not enjoy the class much. The rubrics for our large paper assignment were incredibly vague and caused a lot of confusion amongst the class because no one had any idea what she was looking for. The discussion was a hit or miss, depending entirely on your TA. One thing that didn't sit right with me is that the professor occasionally belittled some students who were the MAIN ONES PARTICIPATING in lectures and discussions but I will give her the benefit of the doubt that it was due to her language barrier. However, this deeply affected participation because we went from having 10-15 people engaging regularly to roughly 2 by the end of it. Attendance is mandatory, exit tickets are given every time. If your group mates are lazy than goodluck figuring out how you are going to do the final paper.

Ignore her bad reviews, she is a good professor. Attendance is required because she does exit tickets after every class but they are very easy. Lectures are online so there is absolutely no reason for the bad reviews for attendance when all you have to do is join on zoom. Quizzes are easy you can just control F the answers in the weekly readings for them. The class as a whole is easy, except the discussion is very disorganized most weeks. Her rubrics are very easy to understand and the project is easy to understand as well. The bad reviews are most likely from people who did not pay attention or are just braindead.

She was really strict when it came to attendance and checking for AI, but simultaneously really lenient if you had a decent excuse, turned something in late, or asked for accommodations. Basically, make an attempt to do things and communicate and you'll get past some of the frustrating parts of this class. Some of the discussion activities were a total meme though. Actually undefendable.

I think Professor Jieun is amazing! Her classes will require attendance (not taking attendance really but will need exit tickets) and she will basically know if you did come or not even if you did the exit tickets. TBF that's how it should be. Her course is an INTRO class and if you have a problem with it, I say you prolly are too advance for it. Despite knowing a lot prior, her lectures are pretty decent and allows you to think more about the major. Professor Jieun herself is super kind and helpful. Her communication is among one of the best I've encountered here at UMD, and you can tell she really cares for her students. Has extra credit opportunities, allows extensions, there is a group project that is semester long, only thing I didn't like so much is that I wished she was a little stricter on telling people to do work in group projects. I wished there was a reflection part where we could've told her what teammates helped and who didn't, but it sounds like she will come up with something in later classes.

Lectures and discussions are mandatory and come with exit tickets. As long as you put enough effort into the assignments and show up, you'll be fine. Sometimes, the discussions felt very unstructured though. You will also be assigned a group throughout the semester to work on the research report. There are also extra credit assignments that help a lot.

The professor is very kind. However, the rubrics were hard to find and the Canvas was disorganized at times. I didn't think it was easy to figure out what she was looking for in essays. The class was more work than in previous years.

New tenure-track? faculty, so her expectations for students are a bit higher than the average jaded adjunct. Still an easy A, but lots of students will be understandably miffed that she's made 201 harder than it historically is. Will probably get better next semester.

Easy class, you'll just have to go to every lecture and discussion for exit tickets. There are weekly quizzes (online, 1 attempt) and writing assignments occasionally but you can wing them, given you look at the readings somewhat, and still have a decent grade in the end.

Easy class if you keep up with the readings and attend the classes. The professor herself is understanding as I came across many group problems and had to contact her very often. She responds fast and tries to find solutions regarding the concerns. Like what others said, attendance is very important to your grade with exit tickets at the end of every lecture and discussion. She's considerate when you email her about an absence but you'd have to give her some kind of proof or documentation to allow you to make up the exit ticket you missed. Grading is very weird and I didn't like how a lot of the quizzes were only up to 2 points with 5 questions as some of them kind of tanked my grade. She also gives good feedback on written papers and allows extensions if you are overwhelmed with other assignments. Overall, it’s an easy A if you stay on top of assignments and attend regularly, though it can feel high maintenance.

This class is really easy, with one big group project throughout the lifetime of the class. Attendance is very important in this class, as the professor is very strict on people showing up to class. There are exit tickets in every lecture and discussion, and if you happen to skip a day where she's taking attendance, but you submit the exit ticket, she will report you to the school. It's genuinely really easy of a class, but just make sure that you actually show up to do the exit tickets. Also, really weird that all the assignments are with only 0.5-2 points (0.5 points for every exit ticket, and the quizzes are 2 points, with the big assignments being up to 9 points). Lots of extra credit opportunity though.

You have to attend every single class to get a good grade. Attendance exit tickets for every class and she often takes attendance. Papers are super vague with bad rubrics and you will have no idea what you're doing 99% of the time.
