Mark Zakota BMGT221 Expecting a C Anonymous 12/03/2024	I am not good at accounting (nor do I really enjoy it), but Zakota made it bearable! He is so sweet and genuinely cares about his students and wants them to do well. His slides are engaging and he even includes cute little animations and accounting memes on them. I will say there could be more study material provided, and he is a little unorganized, but it's his first-semester teaching here and he'll get better with time. 100% recommend!!
Mark Zakota BMGT221 Expecting a C+ Anonymous 12/03/2024	Personally I struggled in this class but that is because I should've put more effort in from the beginning. Zakota cares about his students and loves what he teaches. The powerpoint's can be disorganized but if you go to lecture and follow along it is doable. I would pay attention in discussion prior to quizzes so that you do well. He is great and I am sure he will get better as he gains more experience teaching, definitely take him.

I am a personally who is horrible at accounting (passed accounting 1 by 1 point last semester), and Zakota made the class understandable, and surprisingly, enjoyable. If you had Basu for accounting 1, think of the complete opposite for this guy. Zakota makes the class engaging and clarifies any questions you have. Don't get me wrong, this class is not easy, but if you try and do the world you should get the grades you want. Also, homeworks are short, there are only 5 quizzes, and again, its not Basu (the biggest perk).
Mark Zakota BMGT221 Expecting an A Anonymous 11/20/2024	He's such a cool dude. Clearly knows what he's talking about. Very friendly to talk to and ask for help with parts of the content. He got rid of a lot of the weekly quizzes which was such a stress reliever. The only thing about zakota is the lack of study material that he provides but with what he provides, it's still sufficient to do well in the course and on the exams. I would 100% recommend him for 221
Mark Zakota BMGT221 Expecting an A- Anonymous 11/11/2024	Zakota is genuinely the GOAT. His lecture slides are detailed and informative (sometimes TOO informative for someone handwriting their notes lol), and he makes them very personal with his AI generated images and handwritten notes. The exams are difficult but nothing crazy, and it's definitely content that was covered in class. Homeworks are much easier than Accounting 1 homeworks, and Zakota actively contacted Connect to give us more "hints". Genuinely couldn't have asked for a better professor for this course.

His lectures are thorough, and his slides are fun and easy to refer back to. He gave us a free 100% on the last quiz hence why I am writing this review. The exams are harder than the quizzes and the content covered in class but it's nothing you can't study for, and they're all multiple-choice. You couldn't ask for a better professor to teach this course.
Mark Zakota BMGT221 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 10/10/2024	This was his first semester teaching at UMD so his administration of exams and quizzes felt a little unorganized. However, he's a very friendly and knowledgeable professor. He also got rid of the whole one quiz each week thing which took a huge stress load off my shoulders. His grading ranges are pretty generous and the quizzes were easy. The only downside was the exams which were much harder than the content we covered in class and discussion and he gave very little practice for them outside of one practice exam and the class slides. If you pay attention and study each week you'll be fine, attend lectures, go to discussions, and there is no way you'll get below a B.
