Dr. Zeiger must have changed the structure of her course since the previous review, because you do need the book. On her exams (which are all multiple choice), she has sections for her class material, sections from the textbook, and sections from the accompanying "reader." It's a pain because she does not lecture based off of the textbook so you are basically studying double (well more like quadruple... there is a LOT of reading assigned). She does give like 20 questions that are on the exam prior to the exam date but she will not give you the answers. To be completely honest, I guessed on most of the other 80 questions on the exam and landed a B. Others were not so lucky, as everyone I talked to had gotten D's on the midterm. Thankfully, there are two papers which she doesn't grade too harshly on. But her grades are only based off of those four assignments. So it is very tough to get an A. Also, I took this class during the election time so every day Zeiger would talk about voting for question 6, which was pretty annoying. Oh and she will tell everyone to put away their phones every class. |

I loved this class. You learn a lot of practical concepts, the material is interesting and easy to understand, and most of all, you learn a lot about yourself. For a 400 level class, it's not too bad. If you do the work, which there isn't much other than reading (for the most part), you should be fine. I find that most of her lectures overlap with the reading material, but there are some things that aren't in the book, so it's best to go to class. As a professor, she's awesome. Really fair, very understanding, and pretty funny, too. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who needs to take an elective or an advance studies class. |

Good professor, teaches alot of concepts, easy to understand, what isn't covered in lecture usually isn't given on the exam, and she gives you questions that will be on the exam! |

Dr. Zeiger is a great professor and a very nice and interesting lady. Being a member of the LGBT community herself, she is a great resource regarding the issues. I learned a lot in this class and enjoyed the opportunity to learn and tackle something I haven't really addressed much on my own. There are a few papers, one based on watching a movie, and a group project. She likes the analysis kind of stuff and to talk about how you grew/learned from your experiences. If you do the required work there is no reason not to get an A. She says that herself. Definitely recommended for a diversity course if you are interested in gay & lesbian issues. |
