Really good teacher, and also a sweet person in general. She was very understanding with questions, concerns, and everything else. You have 4 writing assignments and 2 open notes, online tests. I think that if you are taking this class for your major, that it a more than reasonable workload. However, as someone who took this class looking for an easy gened, I felt it was a bit more than what I was looking for. Additionally, she is a very easy grader and you get to miss half of the discussion sessions (the other half attendance is taken). Class attendance is taken using clickers that you need to purchase. As for the material, I felt that at times it was a bit obvious, but that's also just social psych in general. |

An HONEST review from an AVERAGE Student: This course is easy and Dr. Zou is phenomenal! The course is essentially just AP Psyc and a review of Psyc 100 for the most part - not much new content. Concepts were taught and engaging. The only flaws in the course are some writing assignments felt like they were graded a little harshly. Take the course with Dr. Zou if you want a fun professor, and a non stressful course - just make sure to start your writing assignments early! |

Good professor who makes this class as easy as possible. Writing assignments can be a bit difficult if you don't give yourself enough time to complete them. Exams are open-note and online. Very approachable and responds to emails quickly. |

Absolutely amazing teacher. Lectures were interesting and engaging, and she only assigns work that really helps you understand the material. She's been really flexible with me when I communicated with her, and she's always willing to talk to students about topics in this class. |

She's super sweet and loves what she's talking about. Attendance is kind of mandatory because she does this survey thing (which you have to buy a subscription to use) for participation points each class but she drops your lowest few grades on them. All the quizzes, midterm, and final are open note and not in class time. It's a pretty light workload but be prepared to right a short paper (like 1-2 pages) every other week. |

Loved this class and Dr. Zou :) The material was a bit repetitive sometimes but lectures were overall really interesting/engaging, and the readings were pretty helpful! Super light workload, but make sure to start the writing assignments early as they take some time |

Dr. Zou is very sweet and passionate about what she teaches. The content in this class is very easy to grasp, and assignments are not that difficult. The weekly quizzes can sometimes be tricky and the writing assignments may not always be clear, but, as long as you ask questions, you should know what to do. The problems I had in this class were mostly because of the TA who was terrible. However, Dr. Zou is very knowledgeable, approachable, and incredibly kind. |

This class is really interesting and there is not a lot of work. Weekly open note quizzes, and open note midterm and final exam. There is a paper but it also is not a lot of work |

Easy A course if you just keep up (there's honestly not much work). Her class can be kind of boring but the content is interesting (lowkey common sense). |

Dr. Zou is a great lecturer and professor. She responds to any concerns incredibly quickly, and lectures in a way that is easy to understand and take notes on. However, her exams and quizzes, while open note, can be difficult. There are occasionally a few trick questions where either answer could be correct, and it just becomes a 50/50 guess. She does genuinely care about her students, but her UTA and GTA during Spring 2023 left a little to be desired. While there are some things that she could change to make the course better, I believe she is a great professor and a good option for anyone looking to take PSYC 221. |

The syllabus for the class is very comprehensive; from the beginning, you'll know exactly what to expect regarding assignments. There is only one homework assignment per week (a 5-6 question quiz) on the material covered in the lecture, and during the lecture, participation is evaluated through Turning Point. There are a lot of small assignments throughout the semester, including 3 writing assignments and multiple extra credit opportunities. Both the midterm and finals are open-note and pretty easy to follow. She cares a lot about her students but appears sort of nervous and lacks the assertiveness that I think would take her teaching quality to the next level. |

Professor Zou's lectures are engaging and organized, and she herself is very sweet. The class itself is not difficult, there are many extra credit opportunities and besides a couple of writing assignments and a final essay, the workload is light. A previous review stated that Professor Zou was not able to answer student questions, but I personally have felt my questions have been answered well. Overall a great class that is not too difficult if you're looking for something easy but interesting. |

Not my favorite professor, I felt like I taught myself a lot of this material. She kind of seems like she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. She could never answer questions students had. Nice enough and lots of extra credit but I was disappointed. |

I took psyc221 with Dr. Zou in the covid spring 2020 semester, and her ability to transition between the in-person to online learning environment was very organized. I also took her psychology of racism class (psyc232) and found it to be very fulfilling. Dr. Zou is really educated in the field of social psychology and reflects her passion into her teaching. She is extremely approachable, but also very professional. Her teaching style consists of giving lectures with posted slides, having small class discussions, and creating a space for fulfilling full-class discussions during her discussion section. She is very flexible and understands that things happen, and wants to help you succeed. If I could give Dr. Zou a higher rating, I would absolutely do it. Fantastic professor and overall human. |

I took the Psychology of Racism with her and she is by far the best psych professor I've had. She is caring and really does want everyone to succeed. Her grading is clear and assignments are straightforward and arent overwhelming. |
