He really cares about teaching the material. He teaches based on examples, so sometimes the white boards gets a bit messy. His exams are very fair, and I would highly recommend him.

Don't hesitate, take his class! I had an amazing semester and learned so much from his class. I am a finance major with no interest in accounting, but the topics his covers are very helpful. Everyone gets to participate in class. He is laid back and understanding. If you need more hours to work on exams/quizzes make sure to email him early in the semester. One of the best professors at Smith.

Great professor who clearly knows the material and is able to effectively convey it to students. As the other review stated, recorded lectures were not the best quality so it was difficult to use them for reviewing purposes. The content for this course was difficult but between the textbook and his lectures you should be fine. He is also very friendly with his students when answering questions about class or about career-related topics.

Solid choice. Decent lecturer. I had a hard time staying engaged in class but I'm not sure I can blame him for that since I didn't particularly enjoy the material. My only complaint is that, while he does post his lecture slides and the recordings of his lectures, he often diverges from what's on the slides and writes numbers/calculations/T-charts/etc on the whiteboard, which is too far from the camera to see what he's writing (so if you miss class or just want to rewatch a lecture, sometimes you're just screwed). Also, sometimes there's a problem with the microphone and his voice is too quiet in the recording to hear it at all. However, neither has been a huge issue for me so far because it's easy to make up what you missed using the textbook and slides. As far as his exams go, you have 90 minutes to complete roughly 13 questions. He posts the exam on ELMS and your time starts from when you first open the file. You just do your work and write your answers on your own paper, then scan it/take a picture and email it to him. He's lenient in terms of how long you have to email it to him (like if you send the email 93 or 94 minutes after you open the exam, he won't take points off). He also posts a LENGTHY study guide which is a fair representation of what you'll see on the exam. He doesn't surprise you or give you trick questions. If you know what you're doing you'll finish the exam with plenty of time to check your answers. Otherwise, there's a weekly homework assignment on Connect due Sunday at midnight, and any score of 85% or above he rounds to 100% in your final grade. If you're like me and procrastinate actually learning the material until the weekend, they might take some time. If you know what you're doing, it's an hour or two max. There's also a group project at the end of the semester but it isn't too much and he gives you plenty of warning.
