I honestly really enjoyed this class. Maybe it's because I have a natural knack for innovation and entrepreneurship, but there was never a dull moment in class with Dr. Suarez. You should definitely come to this class ready to learn and engage with classmates.

Suarez is a chill guy, will sometimes end class early. I wouldn't really say I learned anything from this class, It was kind of just an easy A. Not too much work outside the class or inside the class. Usually I just use the three hour class to work on other school work. Overall Suarez is nice and pretty engaging.

The professor is nice and makes the class fun and interactive. The TA is not the best but the coarse itself is nice and the professor is eagured to help.

Genuinely one of the worst classes I've every taken. I took this class as an elective because my advisor suggested it, and it was such a mess. The structure of the class was based off a team paper, memo, and presentation proposal (no quizzes or homework). The rubric for the projects were very confusing and every time I would email the prof for help he would tell me to look at the syllabus. This class was just very disorganized and I would not recommend taking it as a gen-ed.

Absolutely horrible. Gave out the most confusing and badly organized syllabus at the beginning of the year, then got frustrated when no one understood. Yelled at the class for not understanding an assignment he never explained. The grades were entirely based off two assignments and "participation". I emailed him at the end of the year to get clarification on how grades were calculated, and he claimed he did not need to have a rubric or explain himself. He told me my participation was terrible, yet I was one of maybe 4 total people to actually go to class. He also did not take attendance or have any sort of way to track participation, meaning this must have been completely random. Furthermore, he would also get irate if you corrected any of his MANY errors. During the first presentation, he threw a tantrum. Like a literal tantrum because the class did not understand the expectations. I know this sounds unbelievable, but it was like a fever dream. The man is off his rocker.

What I gained from this class: nothing What I lost because of this class: My 4.0 GPA and 3 hrs of my Mondays every week The class is based off of 5 quizzes and one final group project which is graded SO HARSH. There are no possibilities to earn points back and only a total of 125 points in the semester making it impossible to end with a good grade. Do not take this class if you want to save your GPA!!

The grade data for this class is OLD and incorrect. The class USED TO be easy. Its not anymore. He updated it and its a good amount of work. You will struggle to get an A in this class. The quizzes, which are a large portion of your grade, are hard and basically nobody knows the answer to them. He gave nobody an A on the final project with is worth a big chunk of your grade. The average for the final project was a C+. This guy has changed the class and made it significantly harder. I do not suggest taking it and I am a CS major who ended with an A in most of my cs classes and could not end with an A in this class. I struggled for that B-.

This dude is nice but this class is so bad. I took it thinking it’ll be an easy A gened but it’s really not. I’m saying this as a CS major. I got an A in CMSC351 but a B- in this class. The quizzes are so hard and everyone fails them. Those are worth like half the points for the class. He grades harshly on the final project and the high on canvas for the final was a 85% and the average was a 75%. The class used to be really easy, so the grade data is incorrect. He patched it so the class is actually a real class now. I would recommend taking some other gened. This guy is a troll. He refused to bump me 0.14%. GPA gone because of him. NOT AN EASY CLASS. GRADE DATA IS OLD AND INCORRECT

this class was the cause of most of my stress. since the class is almost entirely group based, a bad group or with less than 5 people will screw you over. Thompson is very passionate and she brought pretty cool guest speakers and gave us opportunity to really grow our ideas if we wanted to and network, but most of the class was really taking it for a gen ed and it was way too much work. weekly written group project proposals (~5 pages), weekly personal reflection essay, and other assignments here and there. the instructions on many were vague and most assignments are weighted 1-5 pts so even losing 1 pt made a difference.

For the love of any god you hold dear do not take this class. This was the biggest waste of time that was doing quite literally the most with bulk work and made me want to tear my brain of my skull. Professor Thompson does not accommodate at all to completely valid circumstances, like having group mates who do not contribute at all to your projects. This class is extremely group based so if you don't get a good group, or dont get same number of group mates as other groups, enjoy doubling your workload for an already massive amount of assignments. If you have Thompson, drop the class and do yourself a favor.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS (with Thompson). It's a major time waste for a class that is completely not needed for you. Spent approximately 5-10 hours a week with my group trying to figure out how to do our outrageous group assignments that ask way too much of us with such little guidance. She also is completely unorganized with her elms and all of the assignments. This genuinely has been the first class in college that I have found to be ridiculous and very stressful. She gives harsh feedback and expects you to really create an entire and uniformly correct business model with your group with zero flaws while providing zero help or guidance on how to do it. Still think i'm gonna finish with an A, but not worth it, stay away from this class with her specifically.

Honestly the class is great for knocking out Gen Eds, but besides that I wouldn't take it. The class itself isn't horrible, and Professor Suarez is pretty great! However, there is not a lot of structure to the class and lots of expectations of group work. To get a good grade in the class, all you need to do is complete the assignments. But, remember to study for the quizzes since they are really specific and can knock off a bunch of points

Professor Saurez can be a very nice person and tries to keep his class entertained because of the length of the class and how he wants to integrate key points of innovation within you. The quizzes are very easy as they are matching so you just need to memorize them. The blogs are really easy, and the other assignments aren't too bad. However, the worst part about this class is the group work. Over time, there's this environment that's built within this class that makes students feel that they don't need to show up to class because they feel Professor Saurez isn't going to talk about anything important. It's important in retrospect but not showing up to class won't directly impact one's grade. At the very end of the semester for the final project, this behavior escalates to the point where if you have a bad group, you're basically screwed. It's not completely his fault because the learning in this class isn't conventional as well as it is held once a week, but I do still think that Professor Saurez is still somewhat responsible for creating an environment where many people think it's okay to skip class and let the rest of their group members pick up their slack.

In class professor Suarez is a very fun and engaging professor. His class is very easy and is very based on group work and class participation. His TA on the other time can be a little ridiculous with how harsh she grades blog assignments. The quizzes can also be a little annoying because oftentimes the study guide is given out via MURAL which in my opinion is a clunky and annoying system to work with. Be prepared to use MURAL a lot because it's almost always connected to the work in and out of class and make sure to follow the work guidelines to a tee and you should have no problems with this class.

This class is fairly easy if you put in the work. The assignments are all posted on canvas at the beginning of the semester so you know exactly what is due. However, the instructions are vague for many assignments. Like others have said, this was the only class in which I encountered a maximum page count for papers. In a way, it helped me to write straight to the point without any fluff at the expense of in depth analysis (a catch-22 since you need to explain your reasoning but have limited space to do so). Otherwise, there is a semester long group project. Your performance on this will depend entirely on the quality of your group and your chosen topic. Be sure to delegate tasks. Thompson also invites entrepreneurs from around DC to come present, which I found to be insightful. Overall, just do your work (ahead of deadlines if you can), and you will be fine.

I almost dropped this class on the first day because I hate late classes, but I'm actually very glad that I didn't. I love C'pher's class! I didn't think I had any interest in business or social enterprise and was just taking it for gen eds, but I'm actually really invested in what we're learning. C'pher is very knowledgeable and wants us all to succeed in this class. The major drawback is that this class is based on a massive group project, but there's no final exam, and all of the assignments are very straightforward. He has clear and succinct lessons that are easy to follow, and always sticks around to answer questions after lecture!

An A is easy enough to get, but it's a lot more work than other Gen-Eds. Ms. Thompson doesn't put any length minimums on papers, but instead puts a maximum page length. She's clearly passionate about social entrepreneurship, but sometimes it felt like a workshop rather than a class. Expect a weekly writing and a ton of group projects/presentations. Lectures aren't mandatory. She does bring in a lot of guest speakers (probably one every week) from various businesses in DC, so the class is a good way to network.

This is a uniquely styled course, and a lot of students felt uncomfortable in it. It is an I-series about social enterprises; therefore, it makes sense that the teaching approach is unusual. However, a lot of the students did not understand it and got quickly frustrated and disrespectful. Professor White was unable to retain respect from the students and failed to provide unique knowledge on the subject. Almost every class there was a different and interesting social entrepreneur. There was a lot of group projects. However, Professor Thompson did not lecture much or provide much thought-provoking insight. The grading was incredibly easy and this class has no stress, as long as you accept it is unorthodox.
