She makes a class that is easy for anyone of any major to understand hard. She barely curve and your are lucky to get a B. The worst class I have ever taken. |

Only 4 people finished above a 90 and no finished above a 93 in my section. If you want an A, don’t take |

Do not take this class. She expects you to memorize every little detail about the readings and makes the exams hard |

She is very sweet, knowledgeable, and cares about her students. The only reason why I am giving her a 3 is because this class is soooo unorganized. I went through the entire semester, and still do not know how to navigate through her canvas page, read her emails, or understand the exam questions. Half the words are bolded, the other half are different colors, some of them are underlined, and then the font is all in different sizes. It makes it really hard to understand. Nothing against her though, read the cases and you should get an A (I didn't read). |

Dr. Shapiro is a great professor but she can make things a bit more complicated than it should be. Looking at the past reviews and holy cow, 40+ pages long syllabus? That is crazy. This semester (Fall 2023), the syllabus has shrunk down to about 19 pages long. The first exam is easy (worth 15%) and the second one is a bit hard (20%) and the third was the hardest (worth 25%). The concepts are all connected and come together in the end. Stay on top of taking notes and note how the concept is related to the past case studies, etc. Speaking about the case studies, there are about around 20 of them, which is a lot better that it was in the past. I think she said she would assign WAY MORE than 20 case studies for students to read. If you don't understand some of these stuff, just ask! She really wants her students to understand and be successful! Participation is important; so make sure you actually show up. If you don't like to speak up in class, that is fine. You can post stuff on discussion board, related to a topic, before class. There are two mini group presentations (literally you and 1 partner). Also, her slides are really wordy and hard to read all of them. Luckily, you can access to them at a later time for a further reference. Going back to the exams, don't even bother googling them. She never repeats the questions. When there is a pop quiz on lecture day, read the case study beforehand and pay attention in class! It's an interesting class if you pay attention. |

Professor Debra is a sweet professor. However her class is unorganized and poorly structured. She had a syllabus that consisted of 40 plus pages which was frustrating. Her exams are insanely hard and if you think the syudy guide will help you prepare for this insane exam then you are wrong. The study guide was unhelpful when it comes to preparing you for the exam. You have read every articles otherwise you will not be successful in this class. The curves were so minimal for the exam and unhelpful. She doesn't post assignments on canvas so you have to email it to her instead of uploading to canvas. You also have to check the syllabus more often because she uploads every assignment on the syllabus and expects you to remember the deadlines. Please don't take this class if you don't have to take it because it's not worth the stress that you are about to be put on. |

Professor Debra is a sweet person. However the class is so unorganized and all over the place. Having a 40 page plus syllabus which was extremely confusing and frustrating. Don't think the study guide will help you for the exams most of the time the study guide would not help you prepare for the exam. The exam curves are so minimal and unhelpful. So you have to read every article carefully otherwise you will not be successful in this class. Please don't take this class if it's not required because it's not worth the stress. |

Everything about her course is confusing. Having a 40+ page syllabus, you’d think instructions would be clear and detailed. It’s so hard to know what is expected in this class and everyone feels that way.I feel like she has the ability to teach well bc she’s so knowledgeable, but I think she’s not a great teacher. One of the worst classes I have take |

Dr. Shapiro is very sweet and very passionate professor. Despite this, her class is very poorly structured. She gives quizzes everyday based on discussion posts which are due before each class and swears that reviewing these as well as the many readings are the best way to study for exams, which make up 65% of your total grade. This could not be further from the truth. She is somehow okay with running a class which got an average score of 60% on the final exam and only giving out 1 A and 1 A-. I have never taken a business class which only gave out 1 A. Her curves were very minimal and the manner in which she prepares students for the exams is entirely unhelpful. After reviewing my scores, which were still consistently higher than the average, I realized that even if I had my notes and the readings during the test, I wouldn't have done any better. She then sent a condescending email to all of her students blaming our poor grades on "outside circumstances beyond our control" when it was obvious that our grades were due to her mismanagement of the class. If you don't have to take this class, please don't, it is not worth the stress. |

Professor Shapiro is a good person and she makes every student feel valued in her class. At the same time, this class is very difficult, and the exams are borderline unfair at times with no curve provided whatsoever. If you're going to take 463 with her, do not expect to get an A, our class average for the final exam was a low D, and even if you've done well on the first two exams, nothing prepares you for the final. I wouldn't say that Professor Shapiro is a bad professor by any means, her class just feels unfair and impossible at times no matter how hard you try. |

So as a person she's very sweet and knowledgable but I really just didn't like the course. Each class is based on a reading and she tries to connect them but their similarities are vaguely there leaving you VERY confused. There are quizzes at the end of each class so do the readings but even then she words things funny and you can get the wrong answer and not understand why it isn't correct. I did well on most quizzes and completely bombed the first exam so actually study. I had the same issue, each question said select the best answer when any answer was plausible with the right train of thought so wtf. The syllabus is 40 pages and its annoying how often you have to reference it to keep up. I wouldn't take this course again. |

Professor Suarez is the most incredible professor the Smith School has to offer. He cares about his students, he is very passionate, very experienced, well spoken, and knowledgeable. I rave about him and his courses to all those that will listen. He is by far the most inspirational and transformational professor you will ever take. If you participate, contribute, and try hard you will undoubtedly succeed. But the best thing about his courses is that you learn material with substance, value, and real world application. DO not take this man for granted, he is incredible. |

She isn't very clear on guidelines for the final group paper. In our class the week before the final paper was due she began to add more things she wanted included in the paper, this is completely unorganized on her part. I do agree she does come off biased and if she likes you she isn't shy about giving you extra points. |

if you love to participate, take this class. grade is heavily based on in-class participation - attendance AND giving intelligent comments in class. LOTS of reading. one case write up, 2 group projects. exams are not impossible but you do have to study extensively (all multiple choice) this isnt an easy class - you have to work to get the grade you want. she's a great person, very helpful as a professor, and really wants everyone to do well. she loves to travel and shares lots of stories. |
