This is the hardest crim class i have ever taken. The exam questions are insane and there is no study guide which is wild because youre reading over 20 articles and 7 chapters for each exam, so 14 long chapters in total with over 40 articles. She doesnt curve either. The material is heavy and she pulls small details from the text book that legit nobody could ever remember. theres also an insane work load so you have no time to really take in everything were learning. by far one of the hardest classes i have ever taken at umd. |

Do not take unless you want your grade to go downhill. Extremely difficult exams! |

Average prof. The class felt like a hodgepodge of all CCJS classes and he just read in a monotone off slides every class. He's a funny guy with a dry sense of humor and attendance is mandatory because he makes us work with partners and answer very random questions after class (ex: how should we solve the drug problem (??!!)). To do well on the quizzes you have to soak up every piece of information that he says in class because a majority of the stuff is not in the notes. 20-page paper due at the end of the semester but he sets you up for success with all of the assignments leading up to it. He is very responsive to emails and an overall good person in general. |

He is an excellent Professor for Crime and Prevention Course; his lectures are very clear and concise. Be prepared to take good notes; he's a little bit more challenging since it is a 400-level course, but the same concept as any of his other classes 7 quizzes drop the lowest 2 and the midterm and final exams all multiple choice. And the last Prevention Topic Final Paper is done in a group, so team effort is required. You should expect a B plus or higher with effort. However, this is not his most vital area of interest, but it's durable to learn from his past teaching experience at his previous college in Chicago, Illinois. |

Excellent professor, cares about students and listens to their concerns. Goes over all exam material in class. I felt the exams were fair for a 400 level. Four exams and two reports which were easy enough. |

The class was long and sometimes the presentation were a bit dry. The good thing was that Professor Gottfredson was extremely knowledgeable in the field and that shone through in her lectures. She followed the syllabus exactly. I liked the online quizzes due before each class. They kept me on track with the course. She's not the best, but she's definitely not the worst. |

I didn't think this professor was all that great. When I asked if she knew how to open the powerpoint slides on a Mac she told me it "wasn't her problem". She constantly was cutting class short for stupid reasons. She does let you make up the quizzes if you have an excused absence but the TAs I had were not helpful. Not a hard class but she is not a great teacher. |
